Democrat Presidential Candidates will not condemn Move-On.org directly for attacks on General Petraeus
The Senate on Thursday passed a Republican-sponsored amendment, 72 - 25, reaffirming its "full support " for Gen. David Petraeus and "strongly" condemning "personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces." view voting results
The Senate's action was a direct response to a full-page ad MoveOn.org placed in the New York Times that played off his name with this question in large letters: "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?" The ad accused Petraeus of "cooking the books for the White House" on the war and referred to the general as "a military man constantly at war with the facts."
In an April meeting, sponsored by the MoveOn.org PAC, Obama was chosen the Democrat candidate who "would be best able to lead the country out of Iraq."
MoveOn.org supporters have contributed over $108,000 to Democrat presidential candidates this year through the group’s political action committee, according to Federal Election Commission records.

A Pro-Choice President Will Never End Abortion
"As a practical matter, the argument that a pro-choice president will end abortion is far-fetched. Never in American history has a laissez-faire chief executive ended a great moral evil. ...A related, and more important, reason that a republican and laissez-faire Republican president could not end abortion is that he or she fundamentally opposes the right to life." The Hate Crimes Bill
Here We Go Again - Another attempt to attach the Hate Crimes Bill
Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) attempted to attach hate-crimes language to the Defense Authorization bill. Senator Kennedy failed at an earlier attempt this summer. Senator Kennedy has been relentless in his attempts to pass this bill. He first introduced it in 1997. Senator Kennedy has received over $80,000 from gay/lesbian rights groups since 1990.
The Senate has passed similiar bills three times. On previous occasions, the House either defeated a similar measure or stripped the amendment during the conference committee. In 2005, an amendment to add a hate-crime provision to HR-3132, "The Children's Safety Act" passed the House. It never became law. H.R. 1592 – the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed nearly along party lines in May. The Senate version, SB 1105, again sponsored by Senator Kennedy is in the Senate Judiciary Comte.
Senator Kyl (R-AZ) has stated the bill is unnecessary due to current state laws, and the bill attempts to punish traditional moral values.
