Obama and the Minister
In a sermon delivered at Howard University, Barack Obama's longtime minister, friend and adviser blamed America for starting the AIDS virus, training professional killers, importing drugs and creating a racist society that would never elect a black candidate president.
The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor of Mr. Obama's Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, gave the sermon at the school's Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel in Washington on Jan. 15, 2006.
Hearing Mr. Wright's venomous and paranoid denunciations of this country, the vast majority of Americans would walk out. Instead, Mr. Obama and his wife Michelle have presumably sat through numerous similar sermons by Mr. Wright. Wall Street Journal
Obama's Minister of Hate
Which of these outrageous positions of his pastor and longtime spiritual advisor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, does Barack Obama endorse?
That African-Americans should not say "God Bless America," but rather "God damn America" for "killing innocent people"?
That 9/11 was a case of "America's chickens coming home to roost"?That Zionism has an element of "white racism"?
The one implied by his decision to make a pilgrimage to Libyan dictator Moammar Khadafy with Louis Farrakhan - a man Wright's church has hailed for having "truly epitomized greatness"?
These are not idle questions. And certainly not unfair ones.
Just two weeks ago, the Democratic National Committee put out a press release asking the same kind of questions of John McCain, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. The attack concerned Rev. John Hagee, a leading televangelist who endorsed McCain's candidacy; the DNC demanded that McCain renounce Hagee's support because of the minister's past anti-Catholic and anti-Muslim remarks.
Noting McCain's statement that he was "not endorsing some of [Hagee's] positions, the DNC asked: "Which Hagee positions does McCain endorse?" Well, right back at 'em. NYPost
Sen. John McCain returned to Capitol Hill to cast a vote against pork-barrel spending, a centerpiece of the presumptive Republican nominee's economic agenda and part of his broader campaign on government reform.
In fiscal 2008, Sen. Clinton of New York had 261 earmarks totaling $266 million, according to the Citizens Against Government Waste. In 2005, the group named her one of two recipients of the "Porker of the Year" award. Sen. Obama had 53 earmarks totaling $126 million in fiscal year 2008, according to the government-waste group.
Sen. McCain often cites elimination of earmarks as a solution to the country's financial woes. When asked Wednesday, how he would balance his proposed budget, Sen. McCain responded, "By eliminating wasteful and pork-barrel spending, to start with."
How much would that get him? In fiscal 2008, there were 11,737 appropriation earmarks totaling $16.8 billion. WSJ read more

This week the Senate rejected an amendment that would have provided funds to enforce preventing the transporting of minors over state lines to obtain abortions without parental notification and an amendment to provoide funding to poor pregnant women and their unborn children.
Obama and Clinton Join Senate Against Helping Pregnant Women, McCain Disagrees
Pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton joined a majority of the Senate Thursday night in rejecting an amendment that would offer financial support to poor pregnant women and their unborn children. Their votes contrasted with likely GOP presidential nominee John McCain.
The two candidates voted against a measure by Sen. Wayne Allard of Colorado that would have included pregnant women and their unborn children in the SCHIP program.
Pro-life groups strongly supported the amendment because it would help women who may otherwise have an abortion because of financial worries about affording a baby.
The vote provided another clear contrast between Obama and Clinton, who support unlimited abortions funded with taxpayer dollars, and McCain, who opposes abortion and has called for reversing Roe v. Wade. LifeNews
Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton Join Senate Against Parental Involvement on Abortion
Led by votes from pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the Senate rejected a measure on Thursday night that would have promoted parental involvement when it comes to a minor teenager girl who is considering an abortion.
The Senate voted on an amendment from Sen. John Ensign of Nevada authorizing funds for the federal government to enforce the prevention of taking teens to another state for a secret abortion.
Congress has previously considered the Child Custody Protection Act, a bill to make sure someone can't take a girl to another state for an abortion that violates the parental consent or notification laws of her home state.
Because the Senate's pro-abortion leadership won't take up the bill, Ensign structured a budgetary amendment to essentially accomplish the same purpose as the legislation and pro-life groups considered the vote the same as a vote on the bill.
However, the Senate defeated the amendment on a 49-49 vote thanks to votes against it from both Obama and Clinton. LifeNews

Rainbow Sash Movement Calls for ashes to be thrown at Pope and individuals to blow whistles at any public papal events
The Rainbow Sash Movement, a homosexual activist group, announced their plans to protest Pope Benedict XVI's opposition to homosexual behavior during his April visit to the United States.
Below is the statement posted on the Rainbow Sash website:
(RSM News) The Rainbow Sash Movement is calling on all Catholics of
good will to take the Papal visit as an opportunity to shower the Pope
mobile with ashes instead of confetti. Ashes are an ancient and
appropriate greeting for a sinner who has caused the Church so much
division and pain. We will also be greeting him with whistles; these were
used by the Polish People to show shame for the violation of human
rights by the Communist Government prior to the end of the cold war.
This will be a loud call for reform, that the Pope will be unable to turn a
deaf ear to.
Pope Benedict XVI will make his first visit to the United States from
April 15-20, stopping in Washington and New York. read more
