Same Sex Marriage
Pennsylvania Action Alert
What is the problem with calling a same-sex union a marriage?
A same-sex union cannot be the uniquely complementary, mutually loving, and procreative relationship that God intends marriage to be as reflected in the way he created human nature. By definition a marriage is something other than a same-sex union. Because persons of the same sex cannot enter into a true conjugal union with each other, it would be wrong to act as if their relationship were a marriage. Since the coming together in sexual activity of people of the same sex is essentially different from the sexual activity of a man and a woman, simply saying they are the same does not make them the same. When society tries to redefine marriage so as to make other relationships equivalent to it, marriage itself is devalued.

From PA Catholic Conference:
Senator Michael Brubaker of Lancaster and 16 co-sponsors introduced SB 1250 - the Pennsylvania Marriage Protection Amendment. The bill will amend the Pennsylvania Constitution with this language:
No union other than a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage or the functional equivalent of marriage by the Commonwealth.
Marriage has been and still is the foundation of the family. The protection of marriage is an affirmation of the fundamental benefits that traditional marriage has on society the protection of the family, and in particular, children.Courts in other states are redefining marriage to be something else. The battle for the legal institution of marriage is all around us; we're just one court case away from being forced into same-sex marriage called civil unions like NJ or Vermont, or from having our Defense of Marriage Act struck down as in Iowa.
Send a message to your senator now and urge support of SB 1250 - the Pennsylvania Marriage Protection Amendment. Tell him or her that you are one of the 70% of Pennsylvanians who support marriage between one man and one woman and believe that action needs to be taken now.
