Planned Parenthood
"...Planned Parenthood calls itself pro-child, pro-woman, and pro-family. Yet it is an organization based on falsehoods about the human person, the family and community life.

Planned Parenthood: Prenatal Care at 8% of Clinics, Abortions at 40%
Planned Parenthood is notorious for priding themselves as a “reproductive health care” organization that advocates for women’s rights and choices. However, when we simply look into the numbers, it becomes abundantly clear that Planned Parenthood is in no way in favor of pregnancy “choices.” It’s all about abortion.
According to Tait Sye, national spokeswoman of Planned Parenthood, 63 of the more than 800 Planned Parenthood facilities in America provide the option of prenatal care to pregnant clients—that’s 7.8% of the clinics. On the other hand, 321 of the clinics—about 40%— provide abortion services, and every one refers for abortion, according to Planned Parenthood’s website.
A mandate to be implemented would ensure that every Planned Parenthood affiliate will control a minimum of one abortion facility by 2013, expanding those services even further.
Planned Parenthood boasts that “3%” of their services have to do with abortion, but that statistic is deliberately misleading. Look at the numbers on their most recent Fact Sheet (their latest stats are from 2009). Planned Parenthood did 332,278 abortions while they “saw nearly three million people.” Therefore, 11% of Planned Parenthood clients obtained abortions. Why don’t they publicize that percentage? read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Misleads Women About Chemical Abortions
The following is from the horribly shallow explanation of how a chemical abortion procedure occurs found on Planned Parenthood’s website. Pathetic partial-truths like these keep women in the dark about what really happens during an abortion. What other motives does Planned Parenthood have in hiding the details from women except monetary incentives? Denying women information is no different than from lying to them.
STEP ONE — THE ABORTION PILL
The abortion pill works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Without progesterone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, and pregnancy cannot continue.
This cursory description of the initial phase of a medical abortion is the equivalent of telling a heart surgery patient, “Well, you have a heart problem. Without a heart you can’t live. So we’ll fix it,” and leaving it at that.
This is an intentional vagueness of what actually happens after a pregnant woman ingests Mifepristone (also known as Mifeprex). The abortion pill can be used up to 49 days after conception— that’s seven weeks. By seven weeks, the unborn child has a heart that beats up to 170 times per minute, brainwaves that are detectable with an EEG, and he or she reacts to physical stimuli. It’s not just that the “pregnancy cannot continue” when a woman takes Mifepristone. It’s that her body is artificially made halt the production of progesterone which fructifies the uterus so her unborn child can obtain nutrients from it when he or she implants there. In other words, step one of a medical abortion is to render the uterus uninhabitable by cutting off nutrients to the unborn child so he or she starves to death and thus detaches from the uterine wall. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Attacks Congressman Behind Investigation
In a new fundraising email in response to his beginning a congressional investigation, the president of the Planned Parenthood abortion business is aggressively attacking the congressman who called for it.
As LifeNews first reported yesterday, Congressman Cliff Stearns, a Florida Republican, said a committee he chairs will take the first steps in investigating the Planned Parenthood abortion business over abuses ranging from financial disparities to its compliance with federal regulations on taxpayer funding to concerns that it is covering up cases of sex trafficking.
In a September 15 letter LifeNews.com obtained, Stearns, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Investigations, wrote to Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood. The letter asks Richards to comply with current federal regulations and legal obligations by providing Congress with a wide range of documents within two weeks of the date of the letter. read more LifeNews
Police Serve Planned Parenthood With Search Warrant for Aborted Fetus
Spokane police have served Planned Parenthood with a search warrant for an aborted fetus in hopes of proving a child rape case through the use of DNA.
KREM-TV reports (http://bit.ly/ntdYBZ ) that a 15-year-old girl reported that she became pregnant by a 21-year-old man in early August. When her parents learned about the pregnancy from her school at the end of the month, they took her to Planned Parenthood for an abortion.
Detectives say if DNA from the fetus matches a sample from the suspect, it would show paternity and prove the allegation of third-degree rape of a child.
The DNA testing is likely to take several weeks. AP
Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz De-Funded in Tennessee
The last county in Tennessee to provide taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood has chosen to send its state family planning grant money elsewhere — making it so the abortion business has been almost totally de-funded.
Shelby County Health Department director Yvonne Madlock announced on Tuesday that, after significant lobbying from pro-life advocates, another recipient has been chosen to receive almost $400,000 in taxpayer funds to promote family planning efforts. Tennessee Right to Life and other pro-life groups have been pushing for the county to revoke funding because Planned Parenthood is an abortion business.
“The bid was awarded, and it was not Planned Parenthood,” Madlock said, telling the Commercial Appeal newspaper that Christ Community Health Services will receive the $397,000 contract as long as the County Commission signed off on the decision. The newspaper indicates Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell expects the county board to vote by the end of the month on making the change. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Backs Obama Admin Targeting Pro-Lifers
The Obama administration’s targeting of peaceful, law-abiding pro-life advocates for prosecution for supposedly violating a national law by helping women find abortion alternatives is meeting with support from the biggest abortion business.
As LifeNews has reported, the Obama administration is continuing to go after pro-life people who provide abortion alternatives information to women outside abortion facilities. They are going after one elderly man for stepping on a woman’s shoe and breaking the strap.
Maryland resident Richard Retta has been accused of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act by doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights when he presents information to and talks to women considering abortions. For more than 10 years, he has helped women heading to the Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington abortion center find the kind of alternatives the abortion business never provides.
But the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division sees the gentle man as some sort of terrorist and it has filed a lawsuit claiming Retta is one of “the most vocal and aggressive anti-abortion protesters.” How so? The Obama administration claims, “On one occasion, defendant walked so closely to a patient that he stepped on the patient’s shoe and broke the shoe strap.” read more LifeNews
Report: Susan G. Komen donated over $600,000 to Planned Parenthood in 2009-2010
Even as scientific evidence connecting breast cancer to abortion and the use of the oral contraceptive pill continues to mount, one breast cancer cure charity, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, is funding the abortion giant Planned Parenthood to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to a new report.
Stop Planned Parenthood (STOPP), a project of the American Life League dedicated to shutting down Planned Parenthood, released a report on August 24 detailing the $629,159 in funding various Komen affiliates contributed directly to Planned Parenthood affiliates across the US in 2009-2010, according to the 990 Forms Komen submitted to the IRS for those years.
While Komen has repeatedly denied the abortion-breast cancer link, numerous researchers say that the evidence is already overwhelming.

Numerous Planned Parenthoods close in wake of new Texas law
TEXAS, August 18, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Still reeling from funding cuts in Texas, Planned Parenthood is closing clinics and merging affiliates throughout the state, Texas Right to Life reports.
The national abortion giant received a major blow this summer when Texas Governor and presidential contender Rick Perry signed into law a bill that stripped the organization of its funding, and prohibited the state government from contracting with any organization that provides abortions.
A July
report in the Gainesville Daily Register confirmed the closure of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Gainesville as a direct result of these legislative developments.
“Like many healthcare providers facing funding cuts after this Texas Legislative session, Planned Parenthood is adjusting its business model to ensure that our mission of providing healthcare education and advocacy across Texas remains strong,” Ken Lambrecht, CEO of Planned Parenthood of North Texas, told the news service. “We are in the process of reconstructing to ensure that we can continue to best serve communities throughout North Texas.” read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood Wants To Introduce 'Tele-Med' Abortions
Planned Parenthood wants to increase the risk to mothers even more by introducing remote controlled abortion via tele-medicine. This involves dispensing the abortion pill to patients via teleconferencing
methods involving a doctor not physically present at the same facility as the mother.
DUBUQUE, IA (Catholic Online) - In June of last year, Cecile Richards, the national President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, visited an affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There, she made a shocking statement revealing the true nature of Planned Parenthood's priority mission, which has always been to increase the number of abortions.
The message was that "tele-med" abortions, which Planned Parenthood of the Heartland pioneered in its Des Moines, Iowa office, are included in a strategic plan to take the medication abortion (RU-486 ) procedure nationwide over the next five years. read more CatholicOnline
Planned Parenthood Lobbies Against Pro-Life Mexico City Policy
The Planned Parenthood abortion business is not happy that a U.S. House committee has approved legislation that would put the Mexico City Policy back in place. The policy, which President Barack Obama ditched during his first week in office, prevents the funding of groups that promote or perform abortions overseas.
Planned Parenthood is one of the major recipients of millions of dollars through the State Department and the USAID program and the abortion business refused to stop doing abortions or lobbying other nations to change their pro-life laws during the Bush administration so it could receive funds for non-abortion family planning services.
Now, enjoying the revenue stream from the federal government for its foreign activities that Obama turned back on, Planned Parenthood doesn’t want to see Congress turn it off again.
“Women’s rights to make their own medical decisions and plan their families are not American rights. They are human rights. And it’s high time for Congress to recognize that fact,” Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards claims in a new email to supporters urging them to ask Congress to oppose reinstating the Mexico City Policy. “The global gag rule forbids overseas family planning agencies that receive U.S. aid to even mention abortion as an option for women or advocate for legalized abortion in their own countries.”

Planned Parenthood Wrong to Promote Sex Rights for Kids
Last week, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) released their new publication just time for next week’s United Nation’s 2011 International Year of the Youth High Level Meeting in New York.
The publication, entitled Exclaim! Young People’s Guide to ‘Sexual Rights: an IPPF Declaration, is a shocking look into how this billion dollar industry views our children. It attempts to actually defend IPPF’s claim that “young people are sexual beings” with the right to “explore, experience and express their sexuality in healthy, positive, pleasurable and safe ways.”
One can look no further than the Table of Contents, which states “Young People’s Sexual Rights are Human Rights” and a 10-point list on how this young generation’s right to have sex is endowed to all people, to see the agenda IPPF is promoting.
The agenda is their business model:
Step 1: Kill the Child in the Womb = $$$
Step 2: If Child Survives, Encourage the Child to Engage in Sexual Behavior, early and often, and seek help from Planned Parenthood instead of Family = $$$
Step 3: Get Governmental Funding of Abortion and Reproductive “Services” Worldwide =$$$
Time and time again, Planned Parenthood has proven to be an irresponsible caretaker for our children. They encourage youth to forgo seeking their parents and instead visit Planned Parenthood for “non-judgmental help.” But who are these people that we entrust our children to?
These are the same folks who have been proven on videotape to willingly cover statutory rape of minors, assist sex traffickers, and lie to patients about the reality of abortion.
A second glance at this stomach-churning document sheds a little more light into their model. Page 9 proudly declares that young people have an “evolving [sexual] capacity.” While this may explain why IPPF has chosen to litter this document with pictures of young children, some who look as young as 9 or 10 years old, it is still pretty shocking considering the world-wide epidemic of child-age sex slavery.
The irony is this document is clear: IPPF states it believes that sexual rights are essential human rights to all, yet does not believe that all human beings deserve the right to born. Then, in areas of the world where sexual slavery among children is rampant, they offer no protection! In fact, the IPPF document attests to many young people’s evolving sexuality!
Plain and simple: “Evolve” is a shocking reflection of how the world’s abortion giant has developed its dirty business model: Children are money. LifeNews
2012 Republican Hopefuls Tell the SBA List: Defund Planned Parenthood
The Susan B. Anthony List recently contacted Republican presidential hopefuls to ask them where they stand on defunding Planned Parenthood. Several hopefuls, including Rep. Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Sen. Rick Santorum, had already publicly spoken out in support of defunding America's largest abortion provider, which receives a third of its income from taxpayers' pockets.
Gov. Haley Barbour, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Sarah Palin, Rep. Ron Paul, and Gov. Tim Pawlenty and also provided statements to the SBA List.
Gov. Mitt Romney told National Review through a spokesperson that he supports the Pence Amendment.

Planned Parenthood Cuts Contraception, Not Abortion After De-Funding
Planned Parenthood abortion businesses in various states are making decisions on what to cut now that they have faced cuts in taxpayer funding or elimination of the funds entirely. The cuts came because Planned
Parenthood is the biggest abortion business in the nation but, instead of stopping abortions to regain the funds, officials have cut out birth control.
In New Hampshire, following news that the Executive Council revoked a $1.8 million contract, Planned Parenthood decided to halt birth control and pelvic exams. “Patients who used to be able to come to us for their pills now have to walk away,” said Jennifer Frizzell, a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.
According to Reuters, “Planned Parenthood has stopped providing birth control pills and other contraception in New Hampshire after the state’s executive council rejected up to $1.8 million in funding for the group, which also provides privately-funded abortions. The move is expected to affect an average of 120 low-income women each day. Other services provided by Planned Parenthood, including pelvic exams, were also in peril.” read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Fights Defunding Laws
After federal attempts to defund Planned Parenthood as part of Congress' Continuing Resolution spending bill failed in April, pro-life activists took to state legislatures to continue the battle.
Four states have passed laws this year that cut funds to the group and a host of others have passed legislation that places restrictions on abortions, spurring legal backlash from Planned Parenthood. Many of the new state laws go into effect today.
"There is a huge tidal wave of support sweeping across the country right now to defund Planned Parenthood," said Ciara Matthews, a spokesperson for the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life activist group. "What the states are doing is what the federal government has failed to do, and that is to strip tax dollars from America's abortion giant."
In response to the defunding efforts, Planned Parenthood has filed lawsuits in three states – Indiana, Kansas and Montana — with possibly two more to come in North Carolina and Wisconsin. read more ABCNews
Planned Parenthood Attempts to Infiltrate Texas Schools
Planned Parenthood is attempting to increase their presence in public schools to promote their pro-abortion agenda to students. The official Planned Parenthood website has a section designed for middle and high school educators to use for sexual education lessons.
Planned Parenthood’s website offers educators several resources and links to help them create a sexual education curriculum that promotes sexual promiscuity and exploration of alternative lifestyles. The website offers to help educators craft lessons and activities that “cover human development, human reproduction, sexual health, masturbation and other sexual behaviors, all options for unintended pregnancies, sexual expression, sexual identity, and sexual orientation.” read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood and ACLU sue to stop new SD abortion counseling law and waiting period
Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS), represented by attorneys from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and joined by attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union, filed a lawsuit today in federal district court against a new law that severely restricts abortion access.
The lawsuit charges that HB 1217, which passed the South Dakota legislature in March and is scheduled to go into effect on July 1, is unconstitutional because it requires a woman who is seeking an abortion to first prove that she has received so-called “counseling” from an unlicensed, unaccredited and unregulated crisis pregnancy center. Further, it imposes a 72-hour mandatory delay for an abortion after a woman’s initial consultation with her doctor and requires her doctor to obtain written proof from her that she sought counseling at a crisis pregnancy center. The mandatory delay would be the longest in the nation.

Kansas set to join Indiana in de-funding Planned Parenthood
Late last week, Kansas’ state legislature passed a bill that would ban insurance providers, both private and public, from offering coverage for abortion services. The legislature is also awaiting the governor’s signature on the state’s budget, which would cut about $300,000 in federal funding from Planned Parenthood–making it the second state to cut funding for Planned Parenthood. #
According to Life News, the state budget would direct “over $300,000 in Title 10 money to local full-service health clinics instead of Planed Parenthood” and would place “$300,000 into the Stan Clark grant-matched fund for pregnancy support and adoption counseling.” #
Kansas’ governor, Sam Brownback, is expected to sign both measures. Of all of the bills that have made it to his desk, Brownback has so far signed every one restricting abortion access in the state. #
Indiana’s governor signed a bill into law last week that de-funds Planned Parenthood. The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood sought an injunction immediately after the bill was signed. The injunction was not granted. # read more floridaind
Planned Parenthood Will File Lawsuit When Indiana Cuts Funds
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has promised to sign a bill that would yank taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood, but officials with the affiliate of the abortion business are threatening a lawsuit.
Last week, Daniels promised to sign legislation that would install several pro-life provisions, such as banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, but it would also yank state funding for the pro-abortion organization. But Margaret Lawrence Banning, vice president of Planned Parenthood’s public policy, called the potential move “an assault on all women.”
She confirmed the Planned Parenthood abortion business will go to court to block what it called “the alarming erosion of public health policy in our state.”
“Yes we will continue to fight it we’re planning to file an injunction in court as soon as the governor signs it,” Banning said, according to channel 6 in Indianapolis.
Should the state be dragged to court over the bill, attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund say Indiana would be on solid legal footing. The pro-life legal group has informed LifeNews it provided a legal opinion to Governor Daniels Thursday which dispels rumors that a legislature-approved bill defunding abortionists will endanger the state’s Medicaid funds. read more LifeNews
Fact: 96% of Pregnant Women at Planned Parenthood Get Abortions
I’ve been getting a lot of emails over the last week regarding a Planned Parenthood statistic that Students for Life of America has been using in emails and on our website. So, this morning I’m writing about it to address the facts and misinformation about there.
This is a Fact: Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider and 96% of its services for pregnant women are abortions.
For those who may try to rebut this, here is the documentation you need:
Looking at a 2010 fact sheet from their own website, Planned Parenthood provided 324, 008 abortion services, 2,405 adoption referrals, and 9,433 prenatal services in 2008. When calculated, abortion services accounted for 96% of the services provided to pregnant women.

62 Catholic politicians vote against defunding Planned Parenthood
from American Life League
American Life League has released a video suggesting that 62 Catholic members of the House of Representatives who voted against defunding Planned Parenthood deserve excommunication.
The four minute video "Planned Parenthood: Anti-Catholic" documents a history of Planned Parenthood anti-Catholicism from founder Margaret Sanger to current day President Cecile Richards.
"There is no doubt that Planned Parenthood is, by every definition, an enemy of the Catholic faith," said Michael Hichborn, host of American Life League Report. "Sanger identified the Church as her main opposition, Richards has formally excoriated Catholic bishops for pro-life teachings, and Catholic bishops have excommunicated members of Planned Parenthood in the past.
"Planned Parenthood is an enemy of the preborn child, of our children, and of Catholics. To support funding of Planned Parenthood is the ultimate hypocrisy that betrays all pretense of being Catholic in favor of the largest private abortion purveyor in the world," Hichborn concluded.
American Life League is asking Catholics to contact these Catholic representatives and their local bishops to express their feelings on Catholic support of Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood spent more than $1 million electing Democrats last cycle
Here's something to keep in mind as Democrats risk a government shutdown in order to preserve federal subsidies of Planned Parenthood. From the Center for Responsive Politics:
In 2010, Planned Parenthood and a California affiliate together spent more than $700,000 on federal lobbying efforts, a Center for Responsive Politics analysis of federal lobbying records finds. By comparison, all other organizations that primarily advocate for abortion rights collectively spent $247,280 on federal lobbying efforts during the same period, according to the Center's research.

Planned Parenthood's political influence efforts hardly stop at lobbying.
The organization's political action committee, for example, donated more than $148,000 to federal candidates -- almost all Democrats -- during the 2010 election cycle. The PAC spent more than $443,000 overall.
Planned Parenthood also recorded $905,796 in independent expenditures during the 2010 cycle -- money spent in support of, or in opposition to, federal political candidates, largely through advertisements. The top beneficiaries of this money were Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.). washexaminer
Planned Parenthood rally pressures senators to fund abortion giant
(LifeSiteNews.com) - Hours away from a government shutdown over Congress’ budget stalemate, Planned Parenthood and a few thousand pink-shirted followers descended upon Capitol Hill Thursday to pressure lawmakers to hold the line for the abortion giant’s funding in the final bill.
The rally, which drew about 4,000 participants according to Planned Parenthood’s count, came one day before the government was expected to shut down all non-necessary operations, with the GOP standing firm against the administration’s plans for the Continuing Resolution (CR) that would fund the government for the next six months. A short-term CR offered by Republicans on Monday was rejected by both President Obama and Senate leader Harry Reid, who criticized the bill’s stripping of taxpayer funds for abortions in the District of Columbia.
A number of pro-abortion lawmakers were at the rally as well as several actors. Chants of “we decide” pervaded the crowd, which was filled with pink signs supporting Planned Parenthood services such as cancer screening and STD testing.
“After tomorrow we will be victors,” crowed one speaker. read more
$1 billion missing in GAO report on Planned Parenthood's federal funding
"A U.S. Government Accountability Office report says Planned Parenthood Federation of America cannot find some $1.3 billion given to it by the federal government from 2002 through 2008." WorldNetDaily, in a report
The ruling
The Government Accountability Office report in question, published May 28, 2010, compiled federal funds disbursed to family planning agencies for the fiscal years 2002 to 2009.
We should note that the GAO is a nonpartisan, respected office.
The report stated that Planned Parenthood spent $657.1 million in federal funds between 2002 and 2009. That was the amount Planned Parenthood itself reported to the government in audited annual reports, which the GAO described as "sufficiently reliable for our purposes."
But the report did not, as WorldNetDaily unequivocally stated, include any statement or any evidence that Planned Parenthood received $2.02 billion or that any money was missing. read more tampabay
From Planned Parenthoods Own Reports: More Funding, More Abortions
Over the past few weeks, following a House vote to cut off federal funds to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and 102 named affiliates, PPFA has kicked into overdrive a campaign to hone its image.
Take fiscal responsibility. In an era of massive deficits, it’s not surprising that the tone-deaf PPFA President Cecile Richards would remark on a “Newsmaker” program that the largest abortion provider in America is “the largest family planning provider and the most cost-effective”!
Or that she would appear on the pro-abortion Joy Behar’s talk show in February and erroneously imply that PPFA provides mammograms and that defunding PP would defund mammograms. (Thanks to Jill Stanek for pointing that out.)
But these whoppers are part of a larger and long-standing pattern. PPFA often argues that increased funding will enable them to reduce the numbers of abortion. The problem is their own organizational reports don’t seem to show that.
The amount that Planned Parenthood has gotten from federal, state, and local governments has been increasing steadily over the past several years, more than doubling since 1998, but abortions done at Planned Parenthood have not gone down. In fact, they have increased dramatically during that same period, rising at a rate … that very nearly matches the rate of those funding increases (see chart).
Revenue Planned Parenthood receives in “Government Grants & Contracts” has gone from $165 million in 1998 to $363.3 million in the organization’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2009. During the same time, and at roughly the same rate, abortions have more than doubled at Planned Parenthood, from 165,509 in 1998 to 332,278 in 2009.
All this while abortions in the U.S., as a whole, dropped by about 25%. read more NRTL

Planned Parenthood Wrong to Lobby Against Sex Reporting Bill
Currently in Illinois, only licensed health care professionals at health care centers like Planned Parenthood are required to report the sexual abuse of a child to state authorities. What this means is Planned Parenthood staff including volunteers, front-desk staff (which often willingly offer medical guidance), and other non-licensed office staff are not required to report child sexual abuse when they find out that a child is being abused.
There is a proposed law, HB 2093 that would expand who is a mandated reporter of child sexual abuse to include every employee or volunteer of any organizations that provides or refers for reproductive health care. This more expansive definition of who should be required to report child sexual abuse is consistent with most other states that I have looked into.
Why then is Planned Parenthood opposing this common-sense measure that requires that all Planned Parenthood staff report child sex abuse when made aware of it? Planned Parenthood writes on their website:
HB 2093 requires office staff and volunteers of organizations that provide reproductive health care or sex education to be mandated reporters of child abuse. All doctors, nurses and teachers are already mandated reporters. Therefore, these organizations are already legally required to make reports. This bill creates redundant regulations that have the potential to overload the Department of Children and Family Services.

Planned Parenthood's 'Truth Tour' Does Not Mention the 332,278 Abortions It Performed in 2009
(CNSNews.com) - Planned Parenthood Federation of America is fighting a congressional attempt to end federal funding for the organization with a nationwide bus tour, dubbed the "Truth Tour." The organization's bright pink bus advertises various Planned Parenthood statistics and health data, but it does not include the number of abortions the organization has performed.
In 2009, Planned Parenthood clinics performed 332,278 abortions, according to a fact sheet on the group’s Web site. Also, in fiscal year 2008-2009, Planned Parenthood received more than $363 million in government grants and contracts, including federal taxpayer dollars through Title X family planning provisions.
Although federal law does not allow for taxpayer dollars to directly pay for abortion, critics of Planned Parenthood, which is the largest provider of abortions in the United States, say the millions of dollars it gets annually help it support other programs, thus freeing up funds that can be used to promote or perform abortions. read more
Planned Parenthood Reports Abortions Up More Than 8,000 in One Year
(CNSNews.com) – Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Web site shows that it performed 332,278 abortions in 2009, up 8,270 from 2008. According to a fact sheet published in February 2011, Planned Parenthood clinics in 2009 performed 332,278 abortions – up from 324,008 in 2008, or a 2.5 percent increase.
Planned Parenthood also distributed more than 1.5 million emergency contraception kits, which contain hormones that can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in a women’s uterus.
Planned Parenthood received $349.6 million in tax dollars in the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2008, according to its annual report.
Although federal law prohibits direct taxpayer funding of abortion, critics of Planned Parenthood claim the millions of dollars given to the organization (through Title X family planning appropriations) frees up other funds that can be used to perform and promote the procedure.
In 2009, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) introduced legislation to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers that receive taxpayer money. Last month, Pence offered the legislation as an amendment to a new continuing resolution (CR) that Congress had until March 4 to pass, replacing the CR put in place by the lame duck session after the November mid-term elections.read more
Planned Parenthood Assaults Senate to Keep Massive Funding
The Planned Parenthood abortion business has launched an all-out assault on the U.S. Senate to lobby senators to oppose any attempt to add an amendment to any government funding bill that would yank its taxpayer funding.
The House has already approved the Pence Amendment and pro-life groups are putting pressure on senators to follow suit by adding a similar amendment to the long-term continuing resolution that would fund the federal government to the latter part of the year.
In a new email sent to its members and supporters, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards claims that, since the February 18 vote in the House for the Pence Amendment, “more than 700,000 women and men have signed an open letter to stand with Planned Parenthood” that has gone to members of the Senate.
“We’ve made an impact. And, as the Senate considers its course on this legislation, we have the chance to make an even bigger impact. We have a chance to stop it — but we need your help,” she writes, hoping more than one million people will sign the letter on its web site asking the Senate to oppose attempts to de-fund the abortion business. read more LifeNews
Susan B. Anthony List fires back at Planned Parenthood

The radio campaign is in response to a Planned Parenthood campaign against several members for their vote to defund the organization.

New Planned Parenthood Report: Record Abortions Done in 2009
A new report the Planned Parenthood national abortion business recently released shows the embattled agency did more abortions in 2009 than it has done in any prior year. The report also shows it providing fewer pregnant women with non-abortion services.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America recently posted on its website what it calls its service numbers for 2009. This document, dated February 2011, shows Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide did 332,278 surgical abortions or abortions using the dangerous RU 486 abortion during in 2009.
That’s 2.5 percent more abortions than the September 2010 report the abortion business released covering 2008 and showing it doing 324,008 abortions, which was a 6.1 percent increase over the 305,310 abortions it did in 2007. The 2007 figure was itself a 5.3 percent increase over the 289,750 abortions Planned Parenthood did in 2006. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Falsely Uses Mammograms to Defend Tax-Funding
Reeling from a vote in the House of Representatives that would deny any and all taxpayer funding, the Planned Parenthood abortion business is turning to its non-abortion “services” to defend the need for the government dole.
However, it turns out that, in one case, when it comes to mammograms, Planned Parenthood doesn’t actually provide the service.
On February 21, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards joined the talk show of pro-abortion activist Joy Behar and defended Planned Parenthood against the legislation seeking to de-fund it.
“If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health care access, not to abortion services, to basic family planning – you know, mammograms, cancer screenings, cervical cancer,” she said. read more LifeNews
MT: Planned Parenthood Attacks the Parental Rights Amendment
Last week, Planned Parenthood of Montana, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the Human Rights Campaign spoke against a resolution in Montana's Senate Judicial Committee urging Congress to adopt the Parental Rights Amendment (PRA) and send it to the States for ratification.
Recently, Planned Parenthood has been criticized for covering up the sex trafficking of minors, and they are now under media investigation. Their techniques were exposed by Live Action's president Lila Rose who discovered they counseled an investigator posing as a pimp on how to avoid detection, get abortions and other related services for girls as young as 14 and 15. Planned Parenthood is known for their view that parents have no right to knowledge or consent of the activities of their teenaged daughters when they walk in the door of these clinics. And now it appears to be true even if the girls are being held as sex slaves. Despite these types of actions from Planned Parenthood, the ACLU remains a strong ally.
Lila Rose, a young woman raised by a homeschooling family in California, has taken the initiative to challenge Planned Parenthood by starting Live Action, a pro-life, human rights youth group based in San Jose. In a meeting with the Speaker of the House and other top leaders in Congress this week, a key part of the talk was on Lila Rose's activities, as well as a movement in Congress to defund Planned Parenthood – they received $363 million in government (tax payer) funds last year, with an annual budget of over $1.1 billion.
Despite this high revenue stream, Planned Parenthood's opposition in Montana did not succeed. The resolution, SJ 9, calls on the U.S. Congress to pass the Parental Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution. It passed out of committee by a vote of 7-5 on Friday, February 4, and will now proceed to the Montana Senate floor. prnewswire
Planned Parenthood program in public school draws Catholic-led protest
A young parishioner in the Diocese of Knoxville who was upset over a Planned Parenthood presentation in her public high school classroom last fall said she never dreamed the issue would grow as it has.
Sophomore Alaynna McCormick, who attends Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, and her mother, Kym, were among the speakers at a recent information session for parents at Sacred Heart Cathedral School that drew an audience of nearly 200 and considerable media coverage.
Those in the audience included Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and Knox County Schools Superintendent Jim McIntyre.
Alaynna, a member of St. John Neumann Parish in Farragut, said the presentation in her lifetime-wellness class at Hardin Valley in October was supposed to be about abstinence, but the subject never came up.
Later, the student and her mother saw the graphic material posted on the "Info for Teens" portion of the Planned Parenthood website; the site address was given to students in the presentation. The material includes detailed descriptions of the male and female body, reproduction and pregnancy. read more CatholicSentinel
SBA List, Pro-Life Coalition launch grassroots 'Expose Planned Parenthood' campaign
WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2011/Christian Newswire --
Today, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and a coalition of state and national pro-life organizations including Live Action, Students for Life of America, Family Research Council, AUL Action, 40 Days for Life, Concerned Women for America and New Jersey Right to Life, launched a grassroots campaign and online action center at www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com to lobby Members of Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. The efforts come in response to undercover footage released yesterday showing Planned Parenthood of New Jersey aiding and abetting in alleged human sex trafficking and prostitution of female minors.
The website provides a venue for pro-life grassroots activists to urge their Representatives to support the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act aiming to defund Planned Parenthood of the more than $350 million dollars it receives annually under Title X family planning funds. The website will encourage e-mails, phone calls and visits to local Congressional offices and coordinate a national letter to the editor campaign.

Planned Parenthood seeks FBI probe
Planned Parenthood, a perennial protest target because of its role in providing abortions, has notified the FBI that at least 12 of its health centers were visited recently by a man purporting to be a sex trafficker but who may instead be part of an attempted ruse to entrap clinic employees.
In each case, according to Planned Parenthood, the man sought to speak privately with a clinic employee and then requested information about health services for sex workers, including some who he said were minors and in the U.S. illegally.
Planned Parenthood's vice president for communications, Stuart Schear, said the organization has requested an FBI probe of the man's claims and has already fielded some initial FBI inquiries. However, Schear said Planned Parenthood's own investigation indicates that the man has links with Live Action, an anti-abortion group that has conducted previous undercover projects aimed at discrediting the nation's leading abortion provider.
Lila Rose, Live Action's founder and president, described Planned Parenthood's assertion as "very interesting." She declined to confirm or deny that the clinic visits were part of a Live Action operation, but did indicate in a telephone interview that an undercover videotape project of some sort was in the works.

Profit Shows Pro-Choice Means Pro-Abortion for Planned Parenthood
I want to know, where is the outrage?
New York City’s abortion rate is a whopping 39 percent and those who are speaking out are the religious leaders. Where are the NOW spokespersons or the Planned Parenthood (PPFA) leaders who claim to be “pro-choice” not pro-abortion? When the abortion rates are astronomical, when Black Americans are being aborted in numbers that could be considered almost genocidal—where are they? They—the starry-eyed abortion zealots who talk about abortion with a religious-like fervor—are nowhere to be found.
It would be bad for business for them to say the numbers were shameful but even the pro-abortion benevolent press would come down on them if these groups came out to say the numbers were great. However, fiscally speaking, while the rest of the world was looking at bailouts and bankruptcy, abortionists and abortion clinics were seeing big payoffs for their PR campaigns and legal strategies.
Abortion in New York, it seems, was a great money-maker. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood launches "social change initiative" to educate children about sex, homosexuality, and masturbation
(CNSNews.com) – The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is signaling its intention to dominate the national sex education agenda.
Specifically, Planned Parenthood's Web site announced the group is preparing to launch a nationwide “social change initiative” to end the “stigma and shame about sex” in American culture.
The project aims to teach parents and caregivers how to educate children about sex -- from birth. And it recommends telling teenagers about masturbation, oral sex and “where to go for help to prepare to be sexually active.”
The “Real Life. Real Talk” initiative began as a pilot program in communities in Maine, New York, Connecticut, and Arizona between 2004 and 2008, according to a report about the initiative that is for sale on the project’s Web site. read more
Top Companies Stop Backing Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz
A pro-life organization that monitors corporate donations to the Planned Parenthood abortion business says several top companies have stopped providing it with financial support.
Officials with Life Decisions International say that, over the last few months, more corporations have been dropped from its boycott list in a six-month time period than ever before.
“Generally speaking, between the publications of boycott lists, two or three corporations agree to stop funding Planned Parenthood,” LDI president Douglas Scott explained. “The current list was released in July 2010. So, one would expect that two or three corporations on the July 2010 boycott list will not appear on the December 2010 edition.”
“We cannot say for sure exactly why this is happening, but more corporations have been removed from the boycott list between the July 2010 and December 2010 lists than have ever been dropped in the past,” he added.
The companies no longer financially supporting the abortion business, which does more than 25 percent of the abortions in the United States annually, include Enterprise car rentals, Forbes magazine, Ing financial services and one of the more ironic entries, Toys “R” Us.read more lifenews
Planned Parenthood Poll Claims Women Don’t Trust Palin on Abortion
A new poll commissioned by Planned Parenthood claims women trust the abortion business on the issue of abortion more than they trust pro-life potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Planned Parenthood relied on Democratic pollster Hart Research Associates for the survey, obtained by Politico, showing voters side with the abortion business over Palin.
The survey asked the question Democratic pollster Hart Research Associates and found, for all women voters, 58 percent trust the abortion business and 22 percent trust Palin. Among independent women, the poll claims just 12 percent trust Palin more on women’s health issues like abortion.
The survey also alleges 43 percent of all voters say Palin is “out of step” with their views on the issues while 31 percent say she is in line with their beliefs.
Palin has been outspoken on the issue of abortion and her new book talks about her pro-life views at length and the birth of her son Trig, who has Down syndrome. She has also frequently talked before pro-life groups at fundraisers and educational events. LifeNews read more
Tax Return Shows Planned Parenthood Salaries, Much More
From the National Right to Life Comte
We already knew that Planned Parenthood was a $1 billion dollar corporation performing hundreds of thousands of abortions at its clinics all across the U.S. Now, with the release of the groups corporate tax form we have a better idea of where some of the money coming into this "non-profit" ends up.
According to the group's Form 990, the return used for an "Organization Exempt from Income Tax," the group has 356 employees and 61 persons acting as volunteers. This apparently refers only to the national office, since according to the group's 2008 annual report, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) staffed nearly 880 "heath centers" among its 97 affiliates and had "more than four million activists, supporters, and donors."
The return indicates that income at the national office was up over the previous year, with revenues increasing from $85,758,316 to 106,357,796 in 2008 (most from increased contributions and grants). Exactly how is unclear, but the non-profit group had a net income of $474,656 from sales of its inventory.
Planned Parenthood's top officers were well paid. For Cecile Richards, the group's politically well-connected president, total compensation from PPFA for 2008 was $346,285. She also received an additional compensation in salary, bonuses, and other reportable compensation of $38,476, from "related organizations" she did work for. In addition to being PPFA president, Richards is also heads the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which promotes candidates supportive of the group's agenda. read more
Planned Parenthood Got $349.6 Million in Tax Dollars, Performed 324,008 Abortions, Paid Its President $385,163
(CNSNews.com) - Planned Parenthood received $349.6 million in tax dollars in the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2008, and it paid its president, Cecile Richards, $385,163, plus another $11,876 in benefits and deferred compensation.
According to a “fact sheet” published by the organization, Planned Parenthood Affiliate Health Centers performed 324,008 abortions in 2008.
Planned Parenthood’s fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2008 is the latest year for which the organization has publicly released an annual report and published the annual sum of grants and contracts it received from the government.
The $385,163 in pay Planned Parenthood President Richards received in the organization’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 was recorded in the group’s publicly available Internal Revenue Service Form 990 filed for that year.
Richards also received $346,285 in total compensation from Planned Parenthood and $38,476 in total compensation from related groups in the organization’s fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2009, according to the organization’s Form 990 for that year.
Planned Parenthood did not respond to repeated inquiries from CNSNews.com about Cecile Richards’ compensation.
In January 2009, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) introduced legislation to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers that receive taxpayer funding. His bill, H.R. 614, would amend the Public Health Service Act to prohibit “providing any federal family planning assistance to an entity unless the entity certifies that, during the period of such assistance, the entity will not perform, and will not provide any funds to any other entity that performs an abortion.”
“Congressman Pence will continue to fight for the unborn and intends to reintroduce his legislation to defund Planned Parenthood this coming Congress,” Mary Vought, press secretary for the House Republican Congress, told CNSNews.com.
The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 21, 2009 where it has since languished.
Planned Parenthood Makes Post-Election Appeal to Donors for Help in Saving Its Taxpayer Funding From 'Dangerous Politicians'
(CNSNews.com) – In a letter sent to supporters by e-mail on the day after Republicans were swept in as the new majority in the House of Representatives and gained seats in the Senate, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards used the election results to press for an “emergency donation” to help fight against “dangerous politicians who oppose women's health and the right to choose.”
“Even before yesterday's election, women's health was under attack,” Richards wrote in the e-mail, which was sent on Nov. 3. “Anti-choice Republicans like Congressman Mike Pence from Indiana have introduced legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.”
“That's the frightening reality we face, and it's only going to get worse,” Richards wrote.
According to the last annual report made public by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America for Fiscal Year 2007-2008, the organization received $349.6 million in government grants and contracts.
Pence (R-Ind.) was one of 31 Republicans who ordered a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) seeking the total amount of federal funding used by Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups, including the Guttmacher Institute, the Population Council, Advocates for Youth, the International Planned Parenthood Federation and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS). read more
Planned Parenthood, ACLU sue for birth control for low-income teens
Citing “the ability to make medical decisions, with your doctor, without interference from the government,” Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union have sued the State of Montana, demanding that the state’s health insurance for low-income children include contraceptive coverage.
State legislators removed funding for contraceptive coverage in 2009. “The government shouldn’t be financing contraceptives for youth, because then that circumvents the family,” said Keith Bales, a state senator. CatholicOnline
Fewer People Mean Less Government Cost: Planned Parenthood President
(LifeSiteNews.com) - The president of Planned Parenthood has argued that the new federal health care reform ought to consider funding all contraception with taxpayer dollars because preventing new children leads to less government expense.
In an appearance on the Bill Press radio show, PP president Cecile Richards said that, although the costs of the federal health care bill already promise to skyrocket out of control, federal officials ought to consider covering birth control a priority because of the "cost savings" benefit of fewer children being born.
"I think it's important, Bill, to understand that unlike some other issues of cost, birth control is one of those issues that actually saves the government money," said Richards. "So an investment in covering birth control actually in the long run is a huge cost savings because women don't have children that they weren't planning on having and all the sort of attendant cost for unplanned pregnancy.
"So we actually feel that covering birth control is not only it's the right thing to do for women, it's good for women it's good for their health care, but it's frankly good public policy."
The remarks reflect sentiments aired by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when prompted to justify the contraceptive funding in last year's massive stimulus bill. The speaker explained that preventing births "will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

Planned Parenthood Admits Defeat: No Abortion as a Human Right in UN Summit Document
(LifeSiteNews.com) – Pro-life and pro-family advocates have scored two major political victories in the same month in two different international organizations. Following the defeat of the McCafferty Report – which attempted to abolish the rights of European doctors to refuse to commit abortions – at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, pro-life advocates are now declaring a victory over the International Planned Parenthood Federation at the UN.
Carmen Barroso, regional director of International Planned Parenthood Federation for the Western Hemisphere Region, recently complained to pro-abortion lobbyists that a UN Summit Outcome Document “neglects any reference to safe abortion, comprehensive sexuality education ... indicating that there is still much work to be done.”
The Outcome Document was officially adopted by the General Assembly on the 22nd of September.
Pro-abortion NGOs had been pushing during the September Summit for the adoption of a report that was described by pro-life advocates as an “extreme” and “ideologically driven” effort to establish abortion as a “universal human right” for the purposes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). read more
Planned Parenthood Launches Campaign to Fund Birth Control Via ObamaCare
The Planned Parenthood abortion business has launched a new national campaign designed to promote forcing insurance companies to cover birth control via the ObamaCare health care law. It wants to get the federal government to include birth control among the preventive services covered under the measure.
The plan would exploit the Mikulski amendment, which pro-life advocates warned about when it was added to the legislation.
The amendment allows the federal government to define what constitutes "preventive services" that new private health plans must cover without cost-sharing by consumers as required under the federal health reform law. During the ObamaCare debate, pro-life groups said the Obama administration could determine birth control or abortions were "preventative" and force taxpayers to shell out millions to cover the cost of them.
If Planned Parenthood is successful, private insurance plans would be forced, and thereby insured enrollees, would be forced, to pay for birth control through their premiums. read more LifeNews
Komen breast cancer charity provides funding for
Planned Parenthood
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is a powerhouse. As its influence has grown, so too have the number of its critics, who, while appreciative of the group’s good works, cringe at the fact that some of the donations to Komen end up in the coffers of abortion provider Planned Parenthood.
In addition to the debate over the propriety of allocating money to Planned Parenthood, some groups allege that studies prove abortions and certain oral contraceptives can cause breast cancer — while organizations such as Komen deny such links.
Dorinda C. Bordlee, executive director of the Bioethics Defense Fund, speculated to The Daily Caller that one of the main reasons for Komen’s support of Planned Parenthood is the fact that Komen’s founder, Nancy Brinker, was a supporter of the organization, acting as an advisory board member of Planned Parenthood’s North Texas affiliate.
Komen spokesman John Hammarley told TheDC that the issue is overblown, as funding to Planned Parenthood is limited and strictly overseen.
According to Hammarley, about 20 of Komen’s 122 affiliates are responsible for the money that goes to Planned Parenthood and that those funds are used only for breast education, or screening programs that happen to be affiliated with the abortion group. Read more - Daily Caller
Planned Parenthood's business model depends on delivering death
While Planned Parenthood continues to sit on its annual report for 2008-2009, new documents found hidden on its labyrinthine website give taxpayers an insider's look into the beleaguered abortion monopoly it is helping fund.
The numbers paint the grisly picture of an organization beset by financial problems yet determined to increase income by killing more preborn human beings.
But that's not the surprising part. The shocking thing about these numbers is that they are finally dispelling the ubiquitous Planned Parenthood lie that the organization is about something other than abortion.
Planned Parenthood's own numbers dispel the myths:
Myth 1: Planned Parenthood offers "choices"to women. While Planned Parenthood claims it is all about "choice,"a look at its maternity-related services to pregnant women paints a horrific picture of death and destruction inside the innocuous-looking facilities found in nearly every major American city.
The 2008 service figures show that 96.5 percent of pregnant women who received maternity-related "services" from Planned Parenthood aborted their children, with only 3.5 percent receiving prenatal care or adoption referrals. read more washtimes
Ad accusing Planned Parenthood of targeting African Americans banned in major cities
(CNA).- Heroic Media, an Austin, Texas advertising agency dedicated to promoting a pro-life message, is accustomed to controversy. However, even they are surprised at the response to their new campaign, which accuses Planned Parenthood of targeting African-Americans.
Media outlets have banned the ads without explanation.
The advertisements direct viewers to the website www.ppabortsaa.com, short for “Planned Parenthood Aborts African Americans.” There, the agency offers documentation from sources such as the U.S. Census, Center for Disease Control and the Guttmacher Institute, to support the advertisements' contention that “the most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb.”
Central to Heroic Media's campaign, is the allegation that Planned Parenthood has placed around 70 percent of its abortion clinics in areas that can be designated as “minority neighborhoods.” A 2005 report by the Cybercast News Service claimed that out of 160 known abortion facilities run by the organization, 100 were located in communities with a higher black population than the state as a whole.
Although the ad campaign does not accuse any current leaders or staff at Planned Parenthood of being motivated by racism, it does note that abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent since 1973, making it responsible for more deaths than violent crime, accidents and disease. read more
Newly identified corporate supporters of Planned Parenthood named
FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, August 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Life Decisions International (LDI) has released a revised edition of The Boycott List identifying corporations that support of Planned Parenthood, the world's primary abortion-advocacy group.
"As a direct result of the commitment, action and prayers of pro-family people, at least 256 corporations have stopped funding Planned Parenthood," said Kenneth C. Garvey, LDI's Director of Communications. It is estimated that the boycott has cost Planned Parenthood more than $40 million since the Corporate Funding Project (CFP) began nearly 18 years ago.
"This should serve as a testament to those who thought it impossible to change corporate philanthropic behavior," he added.
New boycott targets include AOL, Darden Restaurants (Bahama Breeze, The Capital Grille, LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Season 52), Franchise Services (PIP, Signal Graphics, Sir Speedy), Hilton Worldwide (Conrad Hotels, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns/Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Hotels, Homewood Suites), Ignite Restaurants (Brickhouse Tavern+Tap, Joe's Crab Shack), ING (financial services), Kohl's (department stores), Mrs. Fields (cookies), Staples (office/school supplies), Toys "R" Us, and Trader Joe's (markets/supermarkets).
Returning to The Boycott List are The Gap (apparel/accessories) and Freddie Mac (U.S. government-sponsored secondary mortgages).
Corporations continuing as boycott targets from the previously released Boycott List include AlphaGraphics, Wells Fargo (including Wachovia), Nike, Time Warner, Bank of America, Walt Disney, Johnson & Johnson, Lost Arrow (Patagonia, etc.), Chevron, and Nationwide Insurance, among others.
Garvey was critical of pro-life organizations that continue to use PayPal even though it has been a boycott target for several years now. "PayPal is owned by boycott target eBay," Garvey said. "Most pro-life groups are aware that it is a boycott target because it has funded Planned Parenthood, but they have consciously chosen to continue doing business with the company. Doing so is indefensible." read more
Planned Parenthood Plans to Spend $1 Million to Save Pro-Abortion Barbara Boxer
Carly Fiorina, the pro-life Senate candidate in California, is presenting pro-abortion Sen. Barbara such a tough challenge that Planned Parenthood says it plans to raise and spend $1 million attempting to save the seat of its closest ally in the Senate.
"I believe in the sanctity of life. I believe life begins at conception," Fiorina has said in a television interview.
She added, "In my particular case, my mother-in-law was told to abort her child, who became my husband. She chose something different, obviously, and that made all the difference in her life and mine and certainly his."
Those pro-life views run counter to the way in which Boxer has defended everything from taxpayer funding of abortions to partial-birth abortions in the Senate, refusing to vote for or allow even the most modest abortion limits most Americans support.
Kathy Kneer, president of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, told the Associated Press today that her group believes Boxer will come out on top in November because polls show a majority of California residents back legalized abortions. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood, NARAL Claim Obama Stopping Abortion $ in Health Care
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Responding to the backtracking the Obama administration engaged in on Wednesday and Thursday after a pro-life group uncovered how it planned to use the new health care law to engage in abortion funding, pro-abortion groups are up in arms.
They claim Obama officials are putting in place a new ban on abortion funding and making false claims that it prohibits women from using their own money to pay for abortions.
They are reacting to a statement from a Health and Human Services Department spokeswoman who first claimed the new high risk insurance pools couldn't fund abortions but then said the Obama administration would make sure they did not after proven wrong about how the language of the law and Obama's executive order doesn't apply to them.
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards released a statement Thursday saying the abortion business is "deeply disappointed that the administration has voluntarily and unnecessarily decided to impose limits on private funds used to purchase health insurance coverage for abortion care in the new high-risk insurance pools." read more
Planned Parenthood affiliate’s annual report shows
74 percent of client fees paid by government sources
from American Life League
PP of Greater Washington and North Idaho (PPGWNI) just released its annual report revealing that in 2009 it received 64 percent of its income from federal and state financial assistance. A shocking 74 percent of the money the affiliate gleaned from clients came from government sources: federal and state contracts, Take Charge Medicaid waivers, and Medicaid.
Twenty-two percent of the money clients paid to PPGWNI came from the Take Charge Medicaid waiver program, which pays for “family planning services.” A family of four can have an annual income of over $44,000 and qualify for the waiver.
PPGWNI is the new entity that resulted from the 2010 merger of Planned Parenthood of the Inland Northwest (PPINW) and Planned Parenthood of Central Washington (PPCW).
Looking at the recent history of the two organizations, the 2008 report leads the casual observer to believe that PPINW took in $1.5 million in grants, or 27% of its income from possible government sources. However, it does not break out how much of the additional $3.5 million in patient fees came from Medicaid or the Medicaid waiver program.
Similarly, PPCW’s 2008 report shows that it took in $2.2 million, or 29 percent of its income from federal and state financial assistance, but does not break out how much of the additional $5.3 million in program service fees emanated from Medicaid and the Medicaid waiver program.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America and local affiliates appear to have followed this pattern of deceit in putting together their annual reports, intentionally leaving taxpayers in the dark as to the critical role that our tax money plays in enabling Planned Parenthood’s existence.
It is time for the Planned Federation of America and all of its affiliates to own up to the vast amount of our tax dollars they are extracting. And it is time for us to act with the greatest urgency to defund the abortion giant. Contact your elected representatives today and insist that they take every step necessary to take all hard-earned taxpayer dollars out of the coffers of Planned Parenthood. Our proven plan for defeating government funding of Planned Parenthood can be found here.
Federal court reinstates lawsuit charging Calif. Planned Parenthood with $180 million overbilling
A federal appellate court has reinstated a whistleblower’s lawsuit against Planned Parenthood affiliates in California charging that the organizations overbilled the state and federal governments more than $180 million for birth control drugs. Supporters of the suit were “elated” by the unexpected favorable ruling.
Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, the affiliates’ state political action organization, is also named in the suit.
In its July 1 decision, a three-judge panel of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously reversed a lower court’s ruling that the whistleblower did not have standing to bring the lawsuit, the California Catholic Daily reports. The court remanded the case for further proceedings., read more
Planned Parenthood's missing millions
A new report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on federal tax money funneled into
Planned Parenthood and similar organizations raises more questions than it answers about the nation's largest abortion chain.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America's (PPFA) audits show the organization spent just $657.1 million between 2002 and 2008 from federal government grants and programs, but the abortion behemoth's own annual reports show that it took in $2.3 billion from government grants and programs during the same time period.
That's not pocket change. Why the discrepancy? read more
Planned Parenthood begins campaign requiring health insurers to hand out contraception
Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America which already receives a huge amount of money every year from the federal government, is trying to dip into the till once again:
As health reform regulations begin to take shape, Planned Parenthood has begun a quiet campaign to ensure that birth control is counted among the free preventive services that health insurers must cover under the Affordable Care Act.
... With little fanfare, Planned Parenthood has begun laying the groundwork for a birth control campaign that will ramp up in coming months. (Politico)
Planned Parenthood's efforts capitalize on the fact (often pointed out by those opposed to the legislation) that the Affordable Care Act passed by Congress left the definitions for what would be covered in many cases up to future bureaucrats. In this case, the debate is over what constitutes "preventative services."
One of Planned Parenthood's primary arguments for justifying federal tax dollars paying for contraception is that (they argue) it is a cost-saving mechanism by which abortions are prevented; and of course, they claim contraception also reduces the number of children who are born. In our brave new world of socialized medicine, new human beings are considered a cost and a burden.
Michael New has published a substantive response to those who make this claim about contraception saturation reducing the number of abortions at the Public Discoursetoday.
International Planned Parenthood Report Calls for Youth Sex Rights and Reveals New UN Funding
(NEW YORK – C-FAM) The abortion giant, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), has just released its latest financial statement. The report boasts of increased spending on youth programs and a significant increase in funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with an overall 20% boost in income as compared to 2008.
In 2009, IPPF raked in a staggering $140 million, the bulk of which came from government grants. Sweden, the United Kingdom and Japan top the organization's list of government donors, accounting for 40% of grant money received.
Grants from foundations and multilateral organizations also grew from the previous year. UNFPA, while it is not one of the organization's largest donors, nearly doubled its contribution to IPPF last year from $783,000 to $1.36 million. The World Health Organization, apparently a new IPPF donor, contributed $15,000 in 2009.
IPPF spent a significant portion of its income on an increased focused on youth, to the tune of $9.9 million dollars more than the previous year. According to the report, a central theme of IPPF’s mission is the "provision of high quality and accessible youth friendly sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services."
Susan G. Komen and Planned Parenthood: Pro-Life People Should be Warned
Life News: Like many families, my grandmother and great-grandmother both had breast cancer. The issue of wanting to fight what harms your family or friends is noble. So when I tell people that I do not support Susan G. Komen an organization that exists to “fight breast cancer”, I normally get the look of one: why would you abandon your family or two: oh there goes one of those extremist.
However, my reasons are not that extreme, but rather principled.
I'm sure many of you reading this article have also been confronted with the issue of if I ‘m pro-life then how can I support an organization that supports the nation’s leading abortion provider. Hopefully, the following principles can shed some light on how to respond sympathetically, yet firm with why you cannot wear pink, or join the race, or all the various ways that Susan G. Komen is supported.
Principle # 1 Don't give to organizations that promote the shedding of innocent blood.
If this were a list of commandments, we could start with Thou Shall Not Kill. However, Proverbs 6:17 states that one of the seven things God hates are hands that shed innocent blood.
Unfortunately, Susan G. Komen has given over $3 million dollars between 2003 and 2008 to Planned Parenthood which is the nation’s leading abortion provider.
While Susan G. Komen makes claims that these grants go for breast exams, once the funds go to Planned Parenthood they are fungible. For example, you can throw two twenty dollar bills into a purse one from a friend and one from your own account, but when you go to pay the light bill you use both. read more

WHY:
To mark the 25th anniversary of STOPP's efforts to eradicate Planned Parenthood, the group will consecrate the fight against Planned Parenthood to Our Blessed Mother, followed by prayers asking Our Lady to Stop Planned Parenthood that have been specifically written for this campaign and approved by Bishop Emeritus John W. Yanta.
American Life League will also be unveiling three new signs available for grassroots pro-lifers to combat Planned Parenthood.
Komen Giving to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Down as Donations Drop
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The amount of money Komen for the Cure gives to the Planned Parenthood abortion business in grants declined from 2008-2009.
In addition, the donations Komen took in during the same time period are down and one pro-life advocate suggests it is because of Komen's ties to the abortion giant and its refusal to acknowledge that abortion increases the breast cancer risk for women.
According to new research from pro-life activist Jill Stanek into Komen's annual report, Komen donations to Planned Parenthood is down slightly. The organization has had close ties to the abortion business for years.
Obama May Send Millions to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz for HIV Testing
President Barack Obama may have found another way to thank the Planned Parenthood abortion business for supporting him in the 2008 presidential elections. The Obama administration has announced funding for a multi-million dollar HIV testing program that could direct big bucks to his pro-abortion ally.
Yesterday, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards sent a Twitter update to her followers including an article with the announcement.
The Body, a blog that follows HIV issues, reported that the CDC announced a federal initiative to expand HIV testing and that the Obama administration will bankroll the expansion over the next three years with a total of $142.5 million -- an increase of $31.5 million over previous years.
Although the CDC says only state and local health departments may apply for the funding, the document announcing the funding indicates that, "Family planning and reproductive health clinics, College and university student health clinics, and STD clinics" qualify as end recipients.
"Health departments are best positioned to accomplish this goal, because of their ability to work with multiple healthcare facilities and target those that serve the program’s primary target populations," the CDC funding document indicates.
As pro-life blogger Jill Stanek points out, that means health departments that receive the money from the multi-million dollar project can turn the funds over to Planned Parenthood and act as a conduit for more government funding of the abortion business.

Planned Parenthood head thanks religious sisters for ‘critical support’ of health care bill
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards has praised the Catholic religious sisters who endorsed the Senate health care bill, claiming they deserve gratitude for making “a critical demonstration of support” for a bill that significantly increased coverage of “reproductive health care.”
Writing for the Huffington Post Wednesday in her capacity as president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Richards claimed that it was Catholic nuns who “most importantly broke with the bishops and the Vatican to announce their support for health care reform.”
“This brave and important move, demonstrating that they cared as much about the health care of families in America as they did about church hierarchy, was a critical demonstration of support.” read more CNA
Planned Parenthood: Healthcare passage will "significantly increase access to reproductive health care"; exec order "a symbolic gesture"
from Jill Staneks column:
Now it all comes out. It didn't take long for Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards to revel in PP's financial gain from passage of healthcare in a Planned Parenthood statement just released. Note also Richards' dismissal of Obama's executive order....
For more than a year, PP has worked tirelessly for a health care reform bill that would fix our broken health care system, strengthen women's health, and achieve quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
Today, monumental progress was made toward achieving these goals with the passage of historic health care reform legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives, despite a symbolic gesture, in the form of an Executive Order, to anti-choice Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI), which has diverted attention from the central goal of health care reform - controlling costs and extending coverage.
As a trusted health care provider to millions of women and families across the country, Planned Parenthood applauds the fact that this legislation would extend health care coverage, including family planning, to tens of millions of women and families, guarantee access to affordable life-saving screenings for cervical and breast cancer and other serious health problems, protect women against gender discrimination by private insurers, end the practice of dropping coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and significantly increase access to reproductive health care.
The proposal also includes a commonsense provision to expand family planning under Medicaid, which would significantly increase access to essential preventive health care for millions of women....
Nonetheless, we regret that a pro-choice president of a pro-choice nation was forced to sign an Executive Order that further codifies the proposed anti-choice language in the health care reform bill, originally proposed by Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
What the president's executive order did not do is include the complete and total ban on private health insurance coverage for abortion that Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) had insisted upon. So while we regret that this proposed Executive Order has given the imprimatur of the president to Senator Nelson's language, it is critically important to note that it does not include the Stupak abortion ban.
Thanks, Bart Stupak, you foolish man.
Despite Objections, Girl Scouts Distributed Planned Parenthood Handout at UN Mtg
Late last week we reported in our weekly Friday Fax that the Girl Scouts allowed the distribution of an explicit and dangerous sex guide – produced by the International Planned Parenthood Federation – in a Girl Scout panel for adolescent girls at the UN.
We have been inundated with responses from Girl Scout moms, Girl Scout leaders and others angered and confused that such a thing could happen.
Recall the sex guide tells teenage girls, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!”
The sex guide goes on to tell girls, “Some people have sex when they have been drinking alcohol or using drugs. This is your choice.”
The Girl Scouts have flatly denied that the sex guide was available at their UN conference. We stand by our story and based on new evidence we go further. The sex guide was distributed with the full knowledge and consent of the Girl Scouts-USA.
The Girl Scouts imply another group left the literature prior to their panel. Understand that the Girl Scout meeting was on opening day of the conference (March 1), which means the room was clean of all literature that morning. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Looks for Hard Abortion Stories to Promote Health Care Bill
Hoping to promote the Senate health care bill that funds abortions and could direct millions more to its abortion centers, Planned Parenthood is looking for stories from women of hard cases where they felt they needed an abortion for medical reason to give it a new lobbying tool.
Planned Parenthood officials sent the request via Twitter to its pro-abortion followers.
"Now more than ever, we are fighting to protect women’s health and ensure access to safe abortion," the group claimed.
"Help us tell the real story. Your story. Right now, Congress needs to hear from women who have experienced wanted pregnancies where there was a severe health risk to the fetus, causing the women to choose abortion," the abortion business continued.
"This is just the type of real and compelling story to illustrate how an abortion ban would affect women all over America," Planned Parenthood said -- misleading its supporters into thinking abortion itself would be banned and not merely forcing taxpayers to fund abortions.

Planned Parenthood Pushes Intensive Sex Education for Kids as Young as 10
"Stand and Deliver," a new report by the International Planned Parenthood Federation, advocates that children as young as 10 be given extensive sex education.
A new report by the International Planned Parenthood Federation is advocating that children as young as 10 be given extensive sex education, including an awareness of sex's pleasures.
The report, "Stand and Deliver," charges that religious groups, specifically Catholics and Muslims, deny their young access to comprehensive sexual programs and education.
"Young people's sexuality is still contentious for many religious institutions. Fundamentalist and other religious groups — the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic Schools) for example — have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex." the report states. read more Fox
Planned Parenthood Uses Tebow Response to Target More Black Abortions
African American prolife leaders say Planned Parenthood's tactics are outrageous.
Responding to Planned Parenthood's not so subtle Tebow family rebuke, Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said: "Planned Parenthood's response to the Tebow family's Super Bowl ad continues their founder, eugenicist Margaret Sanger's history of deception. They feature two African American athletes who are talking about 'respecting' women's choices without ever mentioning the 'A' word.
Today, an 18 year old African American male was outraged. He said: "two Black athletes supporting abortion. How is that a message for us, considering that we Black people are the biggest target for Planned Parenthood's abortions? More of our people die from abortion than any other group." newsblze
Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz President Becomes Ford Foundation Trustee
Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz President Becomes Ford Foundation Trustee
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Unable to earn the backing of grassroots Americans, the pro-abortion lobby has held close relationships with foundations -- from which it has drawn millions for its advocacy work. Cementing those ties, the president of the Planned Parenthood abortion business has been named a trustee of the Ford Foundation.
Planned Parenthood announced today in a statement LifeNews.com obtained, that the president of the abortion business, Cecile Richards, was named to the post.
Richards was elected this week to join the Ford Foundation’s Board of Trustees and she will officially begin at the foundation’s next board meeting in May. Ford trustees serve six-year terms, and may be re-elected to the board for a second term. The 15-member board of trustees sets broad policy related to the foundation’s issue areas and geographic focus and oversees its investments and grants.
Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America talked with LifeNews.com about the news.
"This appointment helps expose Ford Foundation’s long-time radical work on population control," she said.
"Cecile Richards joining the board of the Ford Foundation reinforces the concern that wealthy elites never ended their penchant for eugenics. Planned Parenthood and the Ford Foundation are two major players in the sordid history of population control. They both pioneered campaigns targeting poor minorities," she continued. New IPPF Document Pushes Adolescent "Sexual Rights"
In its new report "Stand and Deliver," the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is demanding that governments, religious institutions and society at large provide "comprehensive sexuality education" for children as young as ten years old.
In a foreword, Bert Koenders of the Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, which helped fund the publication, asserts that, "Young people have the right to be fully informed about sexuality and to have access to contraceptives and other services. These rights are enshrined in various internationally agreed human rights convention and treaties, but – unfortunately – they are still not universally respected." Read More CFAM
Pro-life group rebukes Planned Parenthood for sending birth control to Haiti
Following the horrific earthquake in Haiti last week, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) launched a campaign to provide what they call “emergency and basic health services” to victims in the country. But according to Douglas Scott, “Planned Parenthood looks at emergency birth control the same way most people view food, water and shelter.”
“Planned Parenthood will use any excuse to ask for money, even when doing so is ridiculous,” said Douglas R. Scott, president of Life Decisions International (LDI).“What the people of Haiti need is food, water, clothing, and shelter. They do not need anything that Planned Parenthood has to offer.”
According to the IPPF website, in addition to “essential basic and primary healthcare” they are also working to provide “specialist maternity and sexual and reproductive health services.” IPPF argued that an increased vulnerability of women to HIV infection and sexual exploitation often follows natural disasters and that “many women lose access to family planning services, exposing them to unwanted pregnancy, and, in cases of rape, access to emergency contraception and counseling.” CNA read more

Planned Parenthood Doubles "Abortion Services" From 2007 to 2008 to Over 1 Million
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) recently released its annual performance report for 2008-2009. Despite an economic downturn and a slight decrease in annual income, the abortion industry giant boasts of increased activity across all of its lines of work, including condom distribution, advocacy and abortion services.
IPPF’s overall income for 2008 was US$119.7 million, down from over $120 million the previous year. While IPPF's total financial intake dipped, its abortion business boomed. The organization provided almost 428,000 “abortion services” to young people alone, with a staggering 1,134,549 total number of such services – almost double the number from 2007 – across the globe.
Despite an increase in abortion services, IPPF remains unsatisfied with the figure, arguing that "in comparison to other types of services provided by IPPF Member Associations, these figures remain low and indicate that much needs to be done in terms of future investment in this area if IPPF is to meet its objectives of providing women with the choice and right to safe abortion when faced with an unwanted pregnancy."
In the report, IPPF boasts of promoting its abortion agenda among its member associations in traditionally pro-life countries. IPPF highlights its work in pro-life Ireland, which maintains strict limits on abortion access despite pressure from its EU partners and abortion advocacy groups such as IPPF. IPPF boasts that through its member associations, it has been on the ground helping to provide support for rallies and debates to challenge Ireland's pro-life laws since "public debate is often dominated by religion." read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood Transforms Choice on Earth Christmas Card Into Fundraiser
For years, the national Planned Parenthood abortion business has saddened Christians by co-opting Biblical text with its "Choice on Earth" Christmas cards. This year, Planned Parenthood has no offensive greeting cards to sell but it has transformed the cards into a fundraising campaign.
Under a "Choice on Earth" banner, Planned Parenthood Federation of America president Cecile Richards sent her donors an email today that looks back on 2009 and ahead to 2010.
"With so many changes, including a new president, the hope of health care reform, and even some big wins like overturning the global gag rule, some things definitely stay the same," she writes. "For example, everywhere I go women still tell me just how much Planned Parenthood has meant to their lives."
In an effort to draw attention away from its abortion business, Richards recounts the stories of women who went to its centers for pap smears and breast exams.
But she quickly moves back to abortion after a short fundraising plea and bashes pro-life advocates who have worked overtime to stop taxpayer funding of abortions. read more LifeNews

An Open Letter to Planned Parenthood
The following letter appeared in The Hill on December 8.
Cecile Richards President Planned Parenthood Federation of America 434 West 33rd Street New York, NY 10001
Dear Cecile:
Americans United for Life Action and Planned Parenthood are both lobbying Congress on the pending health care legislation. AUL Action is opposed to taxpayer-funded abortions and Planned Parenthood, of course, is working to ensure that abortion is funded in health care.
In the interest of full disclosure and transparency, I think we should both state how much we each stand to gain from passage of this legislation.
I’ll go first. None. Americans United for Life Action has no financial interest in this health care reform legislation.
Planned Parenthood is the world’s largest abortion provider. Your non-profit organization has an annual budget in excess of $1 billion and posted an $85 million profit last year.
Planned Parenthood also received $350 million in federal funding in 2007. You would be included in the health care legislation under consideration as a community service provider.
A recent Harvard Business School case study revealed that despite these massive public subsidies, Planned Parenthood is still struggling financially.
This health care bill is an abortion business bailout. Cecile, the public deserves to know, how much exactly do you stand to gain from this bill?
Sincerely,
Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D. President and CEO Americans United for Life Action
Harvard Study: Planned Parenthood is an Abortion Business and Business is Bad
Despite profits of $85 million in 2008, Planned Parenthood is facing serious financial difficulties.
According to a recent Harvard Business School case study, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is structured as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with multiple affiliates, each of which is also a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The national entity lobbies on national policy, sets affiliation standards, and leases its "Planned Parenthood" brand to affiliates, each of which has its own independent board and management structure, and so enjoys independence in its day-to-day operations.
Internally, Planned Parenthood's difficulties stem from the uneven strength of its affiliates, and President Cecile Richards is worried.
According to the Harvard case, her organization faces "tough economic times, a hostile political environment, and limited ability to raise philanthropic dollars in a resource constrained area of the country."
What does a "hostile political environment" entail? read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Organizing December 2 Pro-Abortion Funding Lobbying Day
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Top pro-abortion groups are planning a national lobbying day for December 2nd that will see thousands of angry abortion activists filling the halls of the House and Senate asking lawmakers to force Americans to pay for abortions under the government-run health care bills.Planned Parenthood is leading the call for the lobbying day and other pro-abortion groups are jumping on board.
Preparations for the lobbying day come as some pro-life leaders privately admit to LifeNews.com that they are concerned the cohesive pro-life lobbying campaign prior to the Stupak amendment has been fractured in a divide on strategy.
That could open the door for a revitalized pro-abortion movement -- angry and upset that the Stupak amendment to stop abortion funding received a strong bipartisan vote -- to push abortion funding and the health care bill through the Senate as well.
"Please join us to lobby the Senate for health care reform that ensures women's access to reproductive health care," Planned Parenthood said in initial message promoting the lobbying day.
Cecile Richards followed up the announcement late Friday afternoon with an email LifeNews.com obtained urging abortion advocates to attend.

Planned Parenthood says U.S. bishops have 'hijacked' health care reform with Stupak Amendment
Planned Parenthood has condemned the addition of the Stupak/Pitts Amendment to the U.S. House’s proposed health care reform legislation, saying it would undermine private health plans that cover abortion. One pro-life leader said the criticism, which characterized pro-lifers as hijackers, was an ‘over the top’ attempt at self-promotion.
Cecile Richards, President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, claimed in a Nov. 7 statement that the Stupak Amendment to Congress’ proposed health care bill has further reach than the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal funding for most abortions.
She also charged that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and “anti-choice opponents” have been able to “hijack” health care reform in their “dedicated attempt” to ban all legal abortion. Richards characterized the USCCB as a hijacker twice in her 700-word statement. read more CNA
Planned Parenthood says they will use their strongest weapon: The White House!
In response to the pro-life Stupak amendment passing in the House last night stripping taxpayer funded abortion from the healthcare bill, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards sent an email to rally her pro-abortion troops to continue the fight which now moves to the Senate.
Following the passage of the Stupak amendment a subsequent vote was offered passing H.R. 3962 and moving healthcare debate to the Senate. Richards told her subscribers that while pro-lifers may be emboldened by their Stupak victory, it was now their turn and they have a friend in the White House.
Opponents of legal abortion and health care for women are emboldened by Saturday night's vote and ready to bring their ban on abortion to the Senate floor. But now it's our turn. And this time we are going to use our strongest weapon: the White House.
Richards continued with a reminder that the President made a campaign promise to Planned Parenthood that healthcare reform would include reproductive health benefits for women -- "reproductive" health care always means abortion.
President Obama campaigned on a promise to put reproductive health care at the center of his reform plan. Supporters of women's health voted for him and contributed to his campaign in record numbers — and now it's time for the president to reaffirm his commitment to women's health, and demand that Congress reject any bill that leaves women worse off under health care reform than they are today.
Her next statement is where the deception comes in. Richards repeats the usual rhetoric that there is no choice if there is no access to abortion - "I've said this before, and it deserves repeating: without access to abortion care, and to comprehensive reproductive health care, there is no choice."
Cecile, please stick to the facts -- Women have access to abortion and will continue to have access to abortion if they have private healthcare plans that offer it, which 46% of plans do. What this is about is not making the rest of us complicit by using our tax dollars to pay for your abortion.
It really is quite simple. And 71% of the population, regardless of their stand on abortion do not want federal funds - their taxpayer dollars, used for elective abortion.
The battle is far from won. There are many other troubling proviisions in the bill including the school-based clinics that are mandated in Section 2511. Planned Parenthood could be eligible to federal funds to run school clinics in high school throughout the country. What a dream come true for PP--unrestricted access to our children without parental supervision -- this must be defeated.
Newly Identified Corporate Supporters of Planned Parenthood Named
Life Decisions International (LDI) has released a revised edition of The Boycott List, which identifies corporations that are boycott targets due to their support of Planned Parenthood, the world's primary abortion-advocacy group.
"As a direct result of the commitment, action and prayers of pro-family people, at least 231 corporations have stopped funding Planned Parenthood," said LDI Chairman Thomas C. Strobhar. It is estimated that the boycott has cost Planned Parenthood more than $40 million since the Corporate Funding Project (CFP) began nearly 17 years ago. "This should serve as a testament to those who thought it impossible to change corporate philanthropic behavior."
New boycott targets, appearing on the pre-Christmas 2009 edition of The Boycott List, include Buffalo Wild Wings (restaurants), Estée Lauder (cosmetics/personal care products), Computer Sciences Corporation (information technology), and United Parcel Service (shipping services).
Corporations continuing as boycott targets from the previously released Boycott List include eBay (Pay {Pal, etc.), AlphaGraphics, Wells Fargo (including Wachovia), Nike, Time Warner (HBO, AOL, etc.), Bank of America, Walt Disney, Johnson & Johnson, Lost Arrow (Patagonia, etc.), Chevron, and Nationwide Insurance, and Sonic (restaurants), among others. read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood's President Lashes Out at USCCB
Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, sent an email to her supporters on Monday, complaining of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) campaign against the abortion-funding health care bill. Richards begged for quick action from abortion supporters to counter the bishops' influence and push the bill through Congress.
Richards' attack was spurred by the nation-wide campaign the USCCB has recently launched, seeking to mobilize parishioners and clergy to call their representatives and senators to defeat the abortion-funding health care bill in Congress.
In the email, Richards breathlessly avers that "every group opposed to a woman's right to choose is pulling out all the stops this week to bring all the progress we've made on health care reform to a grinding halt."
She then urges abortion supporters to contact their senators and representatives and tell them to continue to work for the health care bill. "I know that you've likely e-mailed and called before," she writes, "and I'm asking you to do it again today - and it won't be the last time."

Planned Parenthood Sues Missouri Over "Personhood" Initiative
Planned Parenthood sued the State of Missouri this week to challenge two pro-life ballot initiatives, in an apparent effort to stifle the people's constitutional right to the ballot process.
One of the ballot initiatives, submitted by Personhood Missouri, states, "Section 35, Person defined. As used in sections 2, 10, and 14 of Article I of the state constitution, the term "person" shall apply to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being."
The personhood amendment, along with another pro-life initiative, were both approved by Secretary of State Democrat Robin Carnahan on October 20th. An amendment much like this one was introduced in Colorado and found to be a single-subject issue, approved by the Colorado State Supreme Court. The Planned Parenthood lawsuit claims that the Missouri personhood amendment did not warn voters of the legal and constitutional fallout if the ballot measure passes.
"The legal and constitutional 'fallout' of a Missouri Personhood amendment, is that all humans in the state of Missouri have human rights," stated Keith Mason, of Personhood USA. "All humans are people, and must be protected."
According to the law, it is not required or necessary for ballot initiative proposers to outline every possible legal scenario if an amendment is passed. read more opposingviews
Obama Volunteer Web Site Serve.Gov Promotes Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz
President Barack Obama promised when he was a presidential candidate in July 2007 that he would be a lapdog for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. Obama is now making good on that promise by promoting Planned Parenthood on his new volunteerism web site, Serve.gov.
Last week, Obama announced the web site and the organizational partnerships.
"This summer we launched United We Serve, a nationwide effort calling on all Americans to make service part of their daily lives," he said.
"And we partnered with more than 400 organizations; made more than 250,000 service opportunities available on serve.gov; and watched as nonprofits, and foundations, and corporations, and individuals spent hundreds of thousands of hours serving their communities," Obama added.
One of those organizations, according to Houston Conservative Examiner writer Lisa Stauber is Planned Parenthood. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Teaches Sex Ed Classes in Cleveland Public Schools
A sex ed administrator with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District says that half of the “Responsible Sexual Behavior” classes for 9th and 10th grade students are taught by Planned Parenthood personnel.
"Planned Parenthood is one of our partners that teaches about 50 percent of our 9th and 10th graders,” Lita-Marie Townsen told CNSNews.com. She made the comment at an event on Capitol Hill last week where sex education activists pushed for federal funding of programs that do not focus solely on marriage and heterosexual couples.
The event, sponsored by the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), the National Education Association, and Healthy Teen Network, included Townsend as a panelist. Organizer said she could speak about the progress of comprehensive sex education programs in public schools “on the ground.” read more CNSNews
Planned Parenthood and NARAL Oppose Catholic Hospital Expansion in Maryland
Abortion rights groups are fighting a proposal to build a new Catholic hospital in Montgomery county, the Associated Press is reporting:
Holy Cross, a Catholic hospital in Silver Spring, has submitted a bid to state officials to build a new campus in Germantown. The Maryland Health Care Commission is expected to pick between that bid and one from Adventist HealthCare of Takoma Park in the spring. Adventist wants to build its facility in Clarksburg.
A coalition of abortion rights group, including Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, is lobbying the state and the county's elected officials against Holy Cross' proposal. Holy Cross has restrictions on elective abortions and sterilizations, and the groups say that whatever hospital is built should offer a full range of reproductive health services. webblogs
Planned Parenthood Used Underage Girls in Clinical Trials Pushing Abortion
A new report from a Planned Parenthood watchdog group finds the abortion business used underage girls in at least 10 clinical trials over the last two decades to push abortion, birth control, and STD testing.
The news comes at a time when Planned Parenthood is facing criticism for videos showing it ignoring potential statutory abuse cases.
Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League and the head of its STOPP Planned Parenthood effort, released the details in a statement to LifeNews.com.
Twenty-eight Planned Parenthood affiliates have been involved in 33 clinical trials, some of which received government funds, and 10 of them involved girls as young as 13 years of age. That number represents one-third of all clinical trials surveyed in the STOPP report.
Two of the 33 trials ended in the 1990s, while the remaining 31 were conducted within the last seven years and some of them are ongoing.
Shocked by the results, Sedlak said, “In most states, minor girls involved in sexual activity is considered sex abuse and is illegal." read more LifeNews

Planned Parenthood pressuring principals to bring immoral sex curriculum into public schools
Planned Parenthood Federation of America declared the week of September 28 through October 2 National Sex Education Week. In New York City, Planned Parenthood launched an effort it tagged “We’re Going to the Principal’s Office.” The PPNYC web site details its plan for training and networking parents of public school children to push PP-style sex education into all NYC public schools by pressuring school principals.
STOPP is calling on parents of public school children throughout the nation to counter this PP attempt at pushing failed “comprehensive sex education” on our children.
STOPP has a detailed proven plan for fighting sex education in the public schools. The many successes that we have attained can all be swept away if we do not remain vigilant. Contact your school board members and your local principal ASAP, send letters to the editor, and begin following the STOPP plan.
The most useful resources in fighting PP are the materials that it produces and promotes for children and teens, including the PP web site for teens http://www.plannedparenthood.org/teen-talk/index.htm; a book promoted by PP for children as young as ten years of age entitled Its Perfectly Normal; and the PP web site www.TakeCareDownThere.org. These resources prove that PP is not an abstinence organization, but a sex-pushing organization that is pushing immoral, salacious sex indoctrination on our children under the guise of sexuality education.
Other helpful resources in your fight against PP will include objectionable events and quotes from local PP officials that you can glean from a search of your local newspaper.

Planned Parenthood Distorts "40 Days for Life" campaign to raise money
The propaganda abortion rights groups push out to their supporters never ceases to surprise me. Almost always their facts are distorted with an agenda to make pro-life efforts appear to be nothing more than a bunch of wacked right wing extremists who want to retard the rights of women relegating them to subservient roles in society.
Planned Parenthood's latest attack on the peaceful "40 Day for Life" campaign is such an example. This pro-life outreach is rooted on a "foundation of prayer and fasting" to raise awareness in local communities across the country on the consequences of abortion and turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.
Here's an excerpt from an email Planned Parenthood sent to their subscribers hoping to raise money by exploiting the "40 Days for Life" campaign:
And then there's them — the anti-choice people who appear at our health centers every year at this time for another round of the "40 days for life" protests. They're not here to work, or to seek care, or to find solutions for the people who rely on Planned Parenthood for everything from birth control to cancer screenings — they're there to intimidate medical staff and harass patients.
I'm used to picketers like the ones outside our office right now. The individual faces may change, and the signs the protesters carry are different and more graphic, but the goal is the same: to make it more difficult for women to access health care. More than that, they want to intimidate people like you and me, to scare us out of standing up for women's health.
But know this: I am Emily X. And I am unafraid.
Ok, now what it's really about...the money
I refuse to feel intimidated by the protesters — but I have to admit they make me angry. It bothers me that Planned Parenthood has to devote our limited resources to dealing with extremists harassing our patients at a time when millions of women lack health insurance — that's time, money, and energy that should be going to help the people who rely on Planned Parenthood.
Limited resources? They bring in $1 billion annually according to their 2007–08 Annual Report.
So I've decided to do something about the "40 days for life" protests. For the past two years, I've been doing my part to turn what could be a negative into a positive — by blogging ... and in addition to blogging, sharing stories, posting videos, and letting you into our world for a month.
And that's not all! You'll see that I'm blogging almost daily and posting how many picketers I run into along with some of the things they say and do. We've set up a section on our blog where you can join our Pledge a Protester program — pledge five cents, 10 cents, whatever, for every picketer I encounter during the 40 days.
Last year, I encountered about 500 protesters and, through our "pledge-a-protester" drive, Planned Parenthood supporters raised more than $22,000! This year I'm hoping we'll raise more. Believe me, those nickels and dimes add up. You have no idea how far we can make donations go at Planned Parenthood!
Do they really want to help young women with an unplanned pregnancy? Why doesn't Planned Parenthood offer pre-natal care? Why does Planned Parenthood contribute their so-called "limited resources" to fight parental notification laws? Why don't they wnat parents to know their teen daughters are pregnant. Because Planned Parenthood thinks they know better for your minor daughter then you when it comes to their "reproductive health care."
LifeSiteNews reports the fall 40 Days for Life campaign that kicked off in late September in over 200 cities has reported saving 123 babies by educating troubled young women on options to abortion.
We can all participate in this campaign by offering fasting and prayer from home.
Planned Parenthood sues over new Arizona abortion restrictions
Planned Parenthood Arizona Inc. filed a lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court Monday claiming new abortion laws approved by Gov. Jan Brewer in July violate privacy and due process clauses of the state and U.S. constitution.
Planned Parenthood officials said the group is not challenging Arizona's late-term abortion law but filed its suit regarding laws affecting parental consent, the ban on nurses performing abortions and 24-hour waiting period.
The laws being challenged require:
- That only physicians can perform surgical abortions. The law prohibits nurses from performing the procedure.
- That women receive certain information, including information on fetal pain, from a doctor in person 24 hours before her abortion.
- That parental consent forms be notarized.
The measures were vetoed by former Gov. Janet Napolitano.
The lawsuit is the latest legal salvo in the nation’s decades-long abortion fight. Greenberg Traurig LLP is representing Planned Parenthood in the case filed against the state. read more bizjournal
Planned Parenthood Asks What Do Anti-Choice Hardliners Want...Well, Let Me Tell You!
In an email to subscribers, Laurie Rubiner, vice president of public policy and advocacy for Planned Parenthood, writes on the need to find compromise in the ongoing healthcare debate in Bridging the Divide on Health Care for Women.
Rubiner states that Planned Parenthood is ready to come to the table and compromise in order to provide health care for all. Planned Parenthood’s compromise is that they are willing to concede that because of the longstanding Hyde Amendment, for now federal law prohibits federal funding to cover abortions.
Yes, that's right it does, and Laurie knows that the government run healthcare plan included in H.R. 3200 creates a loophole so that abortion is federally funded. It simply moves premiums paid by subscribers and holds them in a separate account. This fact has been verified despite what President Obama and pro-choice legislators proffer. More on this below from the National Right to Life:
The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) last week released definitive memoranda that demonstrate that (1) the "Hyde Amendment" would not apply to the new programs that would be created by the Obama-backed health bill, H.R. 3200, and (2) that all of the funds that would be spent on elective abortions under the bill, and all of the funds that would be spent to subsidize private insurance plans that cover abortion, would be "federal funds" in both the legal sense and in the sense in which those terms are used throughout the government. (NRTL)
Rubiner begins in her blog positng by reviewing the "whoppers" told by opponents of government heath care which includes Catholic Bishops as conspiracy theorists. Rubiner writes:
Among my "favorite" whoppers: (1) Grandma is going to go before a government death panel; (2) According to a recent Republican National Committee mailer, the Democratic government is going to check your political party registration, and if you're a Republican you'll be denied health care; (3) Catholic bishops are persuading their parishioners that health care reform will mean that every single American is going to have to pay for their neighbors' abortion.
The posting continues with Rubiner posturing that excluding abortion completely from the public plan is unreasonable, discriminatory and unworkable. It's here that a ridiculous comparison is made, that excluding certain coverage like abortion could lead to individuals asking employers to exclude coverage to groups of people they might find objectionable, say gays, lesbians, smokers and obesity.
But fair compromise is not enough for opponents of women's health. They insist that, if there is a public option, there be a strict and total ban on abortion coverage. To illustrate why this is ridiculous, imagine if we went down the road of individuals being able to dictate which health care services their private insurer offers other customers, of every individual being able to tell their employer that they don't want their premiums going toward individuals or health care they object to — gays and lesbians, obesity, smoking...you name it. Insurance would be discriminatory and simply unworkable.
The article concludes with Laurie wondering why we can't all just work together. She asks "What is it the anti-choice hardliners want, other to simply kill health care reform." Well we know what you want Laurie -- more federal funding (currently over $350 million*), and access to all teens across the country by running the school based clinics on high school campuses ( yes, this is a reality in this bill).
Well, I'll tell you Laurie what we want. We want you to stop exploiting young teen girls by throwing around birth control. We want you to stop undermining the role of parents in a teen girls life. We want you to recognize that you are doing great harm to the future women of this country. We want you to stop killing unborn babies (350,000 in 2007-2008 by your own count), and we want you to stop thinking your right to an abortion trumps the rights of all Americans who are opposed to abortion.
This is what we want!
*Section 2511 of H.R.3200, or the House plan, titled "School-Based Health Clinics," allows a "non-profit health agency" to serve as a "sponsoring facility" for health clinics that operate during school hours.
Bishop leads prayer vigil near Planned Parenthood office
People who turned out for a prayer vigil Monday near the offices of Planned Parenthood of West Texas were urged to make ending abortions their No. 1 ministry.
“We need to step forward, make our voices heard, write letters to the editor,” said Bishop Michael Pfeifer of the Catholic Diocese of San Angelo. “The tiniest little cell in a woman’s womb is human life. That tiny little cell, smaller than a dot on a page, has the entire genetic makeup to make it a full human being.”
Pfeifer led a crowd of more than 150 people in the Rosary as part of the prayer vigil. Many in the crowd wore clothing supporting pro-life issues or promoting various Catholic churches in Abilene and the area. read more repoorternews
Gonzaga University Events Manager Lauds Planned Parenthood
posted at Cardinal Newman Society:
"Planned Parenthood is a great organization which does a great job of helping many women..."
Susie Prusch – Manager of University Events at Gonzaga University, a Jesuit institution in Spokane, Wash., – praised the work of Planned Parenthood from her Gonzaga e-mail account, according to Jill Stanek. When a reader of Stanek’s blog forwarded Prusch a LifeNews story about a Spokane Planned Parenthood which made “significant” errors in Medicaid billing, Prusch replied with an e-mail that included the following statement: “Planned Parenthood is a great organization which does a great job of helping many women who need the medical treatment and help, advice, and support throughout their pregnancy.” Read the rest of the story and see the screenshot of Prusch’s e-mail over at Jill Stanek’s blog.
Judie Brown: Obamacare would put PP firmly in the driver’s seat
...America could face a “health care reform” law that not only mandates funding for child killing by abortion, but also forces it to subsidize PP in ways few could now imagine. Yes, PP could be in classrooms across this nation, peddling its lies and its products at taxpayers’ expense!
Richards isn’t about to bring this fact out! We have already established that Richards and truthful statements are not in the same ballpark and maybe not even on the same planet. But Victor Medina does expose the truth:
Under Title V (“Other Provisions”) of Obama’s “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009” (the official name for the bill, H.R. 3200), Subtitle B (School-Based Health Clinics, or SBHC) outlines a program in which the federal government would fund clinics in or near the nation’s schools. The administration of these clinics will not rest with the school nurse or anyone who answers to the school administration or parents. Under Section 399Z, “the SBHC sponsoring facility assumes all responsibility for the SBHC administration, operations, and oversight.”
According to the bill, a “sponsoring facility” is “a hospital, a public health department, a community health center, a nonprofit health care agency, (or) a local educational agency.” Such broad wording outlining the qualifications for government funds and access to schoolchildren could open the door for groups like Planned Parenthood to operate the clinics in schools with no oversight and full federal government support. The organization currently operates over 850 clinics nationwide.
The clinics would be funded by federal grants awarded by the Obama administration, which has made it clear that they expect Planned Parenthood to play an active role in their proposed health care system. In the midst of the recent national debate this summer and during the Congressional recess over the health care plan, members of the Obama administration were meeting with Planned Parenthood staff and making strong overtures over their potential role in health care reform.
Hello? Cecile, are you there? Why aren’t you touting this fact, which is printed in black and white in the House bill?
This report reveals what PP's endgame really is. It is the reason PP can decry anything the USCCB puts forth. It matters not if the bishops take a stand for eliminating all references to abortion, whether privately or publicly funded. It matters not whether the USCCB addresses contraception and sterilization, demanding that those so-called reproductive health services be eliminated. PP just has to keep the guns blazing in order to deflect attention away from what would really occur if Obamacare became public policy.
Once PP is firmly ensconced in the driver’s seat, brainwashing children right and left while American taxpayers foot the bill (paying perhaps millions more than anyone could have imagined), it need not worry about anything. It’s been working toward this moment for 40 years. Ever since PP’s hand first went into the government pocket and came out with a fistful of dollars, the skids have been greased for what could soon become the ultimate victory envisioned in PP’s scheme. read more AmericanLifeLeague
Planned Parenthood Rips Bishops
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments today on remarks made yesterday by Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood:
Planned Parenthood is getting restless knowing that its abortion-happy health care reforms are on the skids. Cecile Richards is now accusing the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops of seeking to make “American women second-class citizens.” And that’s just the danger they are doing at home. Abroad, “their hard-line opposition to women’s rights also endangers millions of women around the globe.” Why they haven’t been locked up, she does not say.
Richards was recently summoned to the White House to discuss health care reform. Is this the kind of advice she was given—to lash out at Catholic bishops? If not, then someone needs to rein her in before the whole health care package blows up in their face.
Richards is either ignorant or lying when she says “comprehensive reproductive health care [is] supported by the majority of Americans.” In fact, nearly two in three Americans (63 percent) favor laws preventing the use of taxpayer funds for abortions. But no matter, data never convince ideologues.
This is great. The American people are called fascists by U.S. Congressmen because they oppose the health care bills now on the table, and Catholic bishops are told by one of the leading proponents of health care reform that they are a threat to human rights. This is the politics of self-destruction on steroids.
Planned Parenthood Continues Boasting of Close Ties with White House on Obamacare Bill
As calls for protection against abortion in President Obama's health care legislation fall on deaf ears, Planned Parenthood (PP) has made no secret of its continued communications with the White House on its interest in ensuring that "reproductive health" plays a central role in the final version of the legislation.
"Just left the White House meeting on women's health care - they appreciate all the mighty PP supporters speaking up for reform in the states!" wrote Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards on her Facebook and Twitter accounts Wednesday afternoon.
The latest meeting continues an apparently tight relationship between Planned Parenthood and the White House, where Obama administration officials have expressed their full cooperation with and encouragement of Planned Parenthood's stake in the bill. read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood in Alaska sues to stop parental notification for teens seeking abortion
A local teacher has teamed up with Planned Parenthood to sue and stop the voter initiative that aims to make it illegal for underage girls to get an abortion without parental consent.
Planned Parenthood along with Bartlett High School teacher Susan Wingrove say it's fine for this issue to be voted on by the public but as it is written right now they say it's unclear and currently unconstitutional.
"The Alaska constitution has very specific rules about what a citizens initiative can and can't do," said Clover Simon, the head of the Alaska branch of Planned Parenthood. "And one of those rules is that it cannot create court rules. We feel like we owe anyone who is going to vote on this issue should have a very clear and legal law to vote on and this does not meet those requirements."
Jim Minnery is the president of Alaska Family Council who is pushing the initiative. He says it was certified by the state last month and believes it will hold up in court.
"It's not a surprise," he said. "Because typically that's the response that Planned Parenthood has. "It's just a desperate attempt to try to again thwart the will of the people by Planned Parenthood and then previously by the Alaska Supreme Court."
Planned Parenthood says the initiative doesn't take into account girls who may have abusive parents or parents who aren't around at all.
"It is our job to protect those young women who can't speak for themselves," Simon said. "You can't pass a law that's going KTVA
FRC: The Truth Hurts Planned Parenthood and NARAL
Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins today urged the House Energy and Commerce Committee to approve amendments to protect the conscience rights of health care providers and ensure that Americans' tax dollars are not used to pay for abortions within the health care overhaul. Perkins also responded to attacks by Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League against FRC Action's new TV ad on abortion funding in President Obama's health care plan. The ad can be viewed at www.frcaction.org/takeover
"In a letter sent today to Planned Parenthood's President Cecile Richards, I challenged her to join me in a public forum to debate the question - Does the President's health care reform plan include a mandate for taxpayer funded abortions? Planned Parenthood says the plan doesn't. I say, come to a debate prepared to prove it.
"Pro-abortion groups have all along expected to see mandated taxpayer funded abortions within President Obama's health care plan, as the President promised them during the campaign to little public notice. Now, strident statements yesterday by Planned Parenthood and NARAL show they may be getting a little nervous about not achieving their long-cherished goal - especially in a nation where the substantial majority of citizens do not want Uncle Sam paying for abortion. read more FRC
Planned Parenthood Blasts Pro-Life Groups for Opposing Abortion in Health Care
Not content with efforts from pro-life groups to make sure that the health care restructuring bills in Congress don't force taxpayer-funding or mandate insurance coverage of abortions, Planned Parenthood is fighting back. In two emails over the last three days, the abortion business is trying to rally its supporters.
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards sounded the alarm on Saturday.
"During the past week, anti-choice groups have turned out in droves to stop progress on health care reform in the name of ideology," Richards said.
"The Family Research Council and the National Right to Life Committee published lies about a women's preventive health amendment introduced by Senator Mikulski, claiming that it would mandate abortion coverage," Richards said. read more LifeNews
Congressman Mike Pence taking on Planned Parenthood
Pro-life Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) has drafted an amendment to defund Planned Parenthood.
Pence's amendment is attached to a Department of Health and Human Services funding bill that, in part, throws federal tax dollars Planned Parenthood's way. Justin Aquila of the Susan B. Anthony List tells OneNewsNow the abortion provider receives a sizeable part of the appropriation.
"In the past two years, Planned Parenthood has received $350 million [in taxpayer funding]," he notes.
That taxpayer support goes to a non-profit organization that reports a sizeable profit each year, generates annual revenues in excess of one billion dollars (according to its most recent annual report), and performs many of the abortions done in the U.S. Aquila points to the abortion figures for last year.
"[They performed] 290,000 abortions, which is 25,000 more than the previous year -- and approximately one in every five abortions occurs at a Planned Parenthood facility," he adds. read more OneNewsNow
Planned Parenthood Study Shows One-Fourth of Abortions Involve Dangerous Drug
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new Planned Parenthood study finds one-fourth of all of the abortions done in the United States now involves the dangerous abortion drug mifepristone. That is the drug that has caused the deaths of more than a dozen women worldwide -- including at least six in the United States -- and has injured more than 1,200 nationwide according to figures from 2007.
Sales of the abortion drug Mifeprex, the first part of the two-part RU 486 abortion pill process, rose 16.5 percent last year and 184,000 women used the drug.
The Planned Parenthood study also finds the abortion drug, which can be used at around seven weeks into pregnancy, now accounts for about one-third of all early-term abortions. The study, which will be reported in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine, analyzed 228,000 abortions at Planned Parenthood centers between 2005 and 2008.
Chris Gacek, of the pro-life Family Research Council, was not surprised by the increased use of the abortion drug. "I don't think at this point we're going to do anything" to try to limit its use, he said. "It's hard to know whether this increases the (total) number of abortions."
Last year, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a former Planned Parenthood research arm, released a report showing the number of abortions has declined to record lows in the United States. But, women having abortions were more frequently using the dangerous abortion drug. According to AGI, about 13 percent of all abortions involve mifepristone. The report also showed that 57 percent of places that do abortions now have the abortion drug, compared with just 33 percent in 2001.
Planned Parenthood targets Baltimore's black community through misleading advertisements
Planned Parenthood of Maryland revealed an advertising campaign earlier this year directed toward the city's black community. The “Babies Born Healthy” ads stress the need for black mothers to get plenty of folic acid, quit smoking, maintain a healthy weight, and plan their pregnancy since the death rate of black infants is almost nine times higher than white infants in their first year of life.
Anyone who knows the history of Planned Parenthood knows that these ads are nothing more than propaganda. The founder of Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, a racist proponent of eugenics. Along with other birth control advocates, Sanger drafted a report in 1939 that stated “[N]egroes present the great problem of the South” since they are the community with “the greatest economic, health and social problems.” Through the Negro Project, Sanger attempted to use abortion and sterilization to control the black population. Sanger even recruited black ministers to help eradicate their own communities through her sterilization policies.
In one flyer, Planned Parenthood of Maryland hypocritically stressed “the importance of health care before pregnancy even occurs” when they are, as a whole, a billion dollar organization that is the largest provider of abortions in the country. Does Planned Parenthood truly care about the health and well-being of the black community? read more examiner
IRS refuses to grant tax exemption to pro-life group unless it agrees to limit picketing and protesting of Planned Parenthood
An Iowa pro-life group is being defended against “prejudicial questioning” by the IRS, which is accused of delaying a tax exemption for the non-profit religious organization. The tax collection agency has reportedly refused to grant the exemption until the group pledges to limit its picketing and protesting of Planned Parenthood.
The IRS also questioned the “educational” nature of the Coalition for Life of Iowa’s materials, prayer meetings, talks and other pro-life activities.
Attorneys with the Chicago-based Thomas More Society have defended the Coalition, arguing that the IRS risks violating the First Amendment and calling for the prompt granting of the tax exemption.
“The repeated questioning of the Coalition suggests that the IRS may be denying or delaying tax-exempt status to an eligible organization based solely upon its religious affiliation and speech,” a Thomas More Society press release said. “Many other organizations regularly advocate on both sides of these issues, and they have not been hindered in obtaining or maintaining tax-exempt status.” read more CNA
Planned Parenthood’s Animated Cartoon Advises Teens on Benefits of ‘Sex Play’ and ‘Outercourse’
In an animated video cartoon on its Web site, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America advises teens that taking part in "sex play" and "outercourse" can greatly reduce their risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
The cartoon features Tina the Farmer who gives viewers a tour of her “Sexually Transmitted Infections Petting Zoo.” At the end of the video, viewers are asked to take a quiz.
The second question on the quiz asks about protecting oneself from getting a STI.
“The only way to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections is not having any sex play at all," the second quiz question asks.

Planned Parenthood Abortion Center Staffer: We Bend the Rules on Sexual Abuse
A new undercover video shows what others have when it comes to Planned Parenthood and how it handles potential cases of sexual abuse. New footage shows a staffer at a Birmingham, Alabama abortion center telling a woman who appears to be a victim of statutory rape that "we bend the rules."
The video is the latest from Lila Rose, a UCLA student who has become a muckraker for her series of videos exposing the nation's largest abortion business.
In this new video, the Birmingham Planned Parenthood counselor tells Rose, who pretends to be a 14-year-old statutory rape victim that it "does sometimes bend the rules a little bit" rather than report sexual abuse to state authorities.
Rose told the staffer that she was 14 and had been impregnated by a 31-year-old boyfriend. She told the Planned Parenthood official she needed a secret abortion so her parents would not find out about her sexual relationship with the older man.
Rose asks, "Is it a problem about my boyfriend?" read more LifeNews
YouTube Removes New Undercover Student Video of Planned Parenthood without Explanation
Without offering any specific explanation, the video-sharing site YouTube has removed a new video by the student group Live Action that shows dishonest counseling practices at Planned Parenthood. The video first plays undercover footage of a Planned Parenthood counselor from Tucson, AZ telling a patient that images of aborted fetuses "are not real" and then shows photographs of a completed abortion and documentation of their authenticity.
Lila Rose, 20-year-old president of Live Action, calls on YouTube to re-instate the video in accordance with its own guidelines: "Since the video we posted does not violate any terms of use, we expect YouTube to re- instate it immediately. YouTube's own 'Community Guideline Tips' advise that intense or disturbing imaging should be 'balanced with additional context and information,' which is exactly what Live Action has done." YouTube has removed videos posted by Live Action without explanation before, including videos showing Planned Parenthood employees caught on tape sympathizing with donors with racist agendas to encourage the abortion of black babies. read more
House Health Care Restructuring Bill Funds Pro-Abortion Planned Parenthood
While pro-life advocates battle the rationing portions of the Kennedy health care restructuring bill in the Senate, the House version presents other problems. House leaders introduced their own measure on Friday that sneaks Planned Parenthood funding into its 852 pages.
Several pro-abortion congressmen, including Reps. George Miller and Henry Waxman, both California Democrats, and Democrat Charlie Rangel of New York, are behind the measure.
The bill includes almost everything on President Obama's wish list including, for the first time in either chamber of Congress, the "family planning" nightmare the Family Research Council has been warning about.
FRC president Tony Perkins says the House health care bill calls for even more government funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which has seen its abortions increase as it receives more taxpayer support.
"What we do know is that Planned Parenthood has a seat at the President's table, and that should alarm every American who cherishes life, freedom, and conscience," Perkins adds.
The latest Planned Parenthood annual report, released in April for the year 2007-2008, showed abortions increased to 305,310 abortions up from 289,750 in 2006. That 5.3 percent increase came at a time when the Alan Guttmacher Institute, its former research arm, showed abortions were at near-historic lows.
The annual report showed more government funding heading to the abortion business even if the taxpayer funds did not directly pay for abortions.
The total government grants and contracts received by PPFA affiliates from government sources including state, local and federal governments, increased from $337 million to $350 million. read more LifeNews
Undercover Videos Prompt Tennessee Lawmakers to End Preferential Treatment for Planned Parenthood
Tennessee legislators passed a law Thursday that threatens to strip Planned Parenthood of over $1 million in federal grant funding. Under the new statute, local community health clinics will be given priority for Title X family planning funds instead of Planned Parenthood.
Live Action Films says that the move was inspired by undercover videos by the group from a Planned Parenthood clinic in Memphis released earlier this year. The videos show a counselor urging a 14-year-old girl to lie about the age of the 31-year-old "boyfriend" who impregnated her so she can obtain a secret abortion.
“We are very happy that Tennessee legislators saw the harm Planned Parenthood is doing to little girls and took the necessary steps to ensure that the organization's negligence will no longer receive preferential treatment when taking our tax dollars,” said Lila Rose, president of Live Action and the UCLA student who went undercover in the videos. read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood wants contraception for children under state SCHIP program in Montana
In a complaint filed with the state Human Rights Commission, Planned Parenthood seeks to stop enforcement of a state law prohibiting coverage of prescription contraceptives under the CHIP program.
Attorneys for Planned Parenthood say the denial of comprehensive healthcare for young women violates the Montana Constitution, the Montana Human Rights Act and Montana's Unisex Insurance Law.
A spokeswoman for the state attorney general's office, Judy Beck, says they received a copy of the complaint Tuesday and have not yet had a chance to review it. The attorney general might be called on to defend the law. kpax
Planned Parenthood Hires New Staffer to Promote Abortion on a Global Scale
Planned Parenthood has hired a new man who will head up the nation's largest abortion business' efforts to promote abortion on a global scale. The pro-abortion group is also delighted that President Barack Obama and his administration have done more to push abortion as an international right.
Veena Siddharth, the vice president for international programs at Planned Parenthood, talked about the latest developments in an email today to the group's supporters.
She said Planned Parenthood has hired Jeff Meer to join the abortion business' staff as the new director of international advocacy.
"Jeff has a long and distinguished background in international development and assistance, which includes having served as a career foreign service officer with the State Department with postings overseas and in Washington," Siddharth said.
Siddharth said Meer had participated in three international population conferences, including the Cairo International Conference on Population and Development.
Meanwhile, Siddharth applauded Obama and his administration.
"We've seen President Barack Obama rescind the [Mexico City Policy] and pave the way for increasing funding for UNFPA and USAID," she writes. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Wants Seat at Obama Health Care Table, Already Got One
(LifeNews.com) -- The nation's largest abortion business wants a seat at the table of the health care debate and the bill the Obama administration and Congress will put together. However, Planned Parenthood already got one and it came during a meeting where Obama shut out pro-life groups. Planned Parenthood made the request in a new email to its supporters asking them to ask members of Congress to include the pro-abortion group.
"Planned Parenthood must be an essential part of any health care reform," its president, Cecile Richards, wrote in the email. "The fact is, nobody else can speak for the women, men, and teens Planned Parenthood health centers serve quite like we can — and we need lawmakers to listen." Richards continued, "As the Obama administration and Congress work to reform our health care system, Planned Parenthood will be the leading voice speaking for countless women and families."
As she indicated during the Obama health care meeting, Richards said abortion "is fundamental to improving our nation's health care system — and that means that Planned Parenthood must be an essential part of health care reform." The Obama administration's health care summit included the nation's largest abortion business and several other groups that take a pro-abortion position. But no leading pro-life medical groups or top pro-life organizations were allowed to attend the health care event. The Human Rights Campaign, National Council of La Raza and others that support abortion were there.
Planned Parenthood On Sotomayor
Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, weighs in on Pres. Obama's selection of Sonia Sotomayor to replace retiring SCOTUS Justice David Souter:
"This historic nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court sends a strong signal that President Obama understands the importance of ensuring that our Supreme Court justices respect precedent while also protecting our civil liberties.
"Judge Sotomayor has vast experience in nearly every aspect of the law, having served as a big-city prosecutor and a corporate litigator, a federal trial judge on the U.S. District Court, and an appellate judge on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. What our nation needs from our Supreme Court justices is a deep understanding of the law, an appreciation of the impact of the court's decisions on everyday Americans, and a commitment to the protection of our individual liberties. Judge Sotomayor will bring this dedication and commitment with her to the bench.
"There is no doubt that Judge Sotomayor's story is an inspiration to all. Her nomination as the first Hispanic woman justice reminds us that, with hard work and commitment, all things are truly possible in America." hotline.nationaljournal
Planned Parenthood supports bill that would make it more difficult for citizens to qualify ballot measures
The political action arm of the nine Planned Parenthood affiliates in California has thrown its considerable legislative clout behind a measure now pending in the state Assembly that would make it more difficult to qualify initiatives for the ballot.
Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California has gone on record in favor of AB 6, a bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña, D-San Diego, which would require firms that hire signature gatherers to qualify state or local initiatives for the ballot to pay an annual fee and register with the secretary of state. The bill also requires such firms to provide a training program for signature gatherers on state laws regarding the initiative process and submit proof of such training to the secretary of state.
While Planned Parenthood cites the expense of qualifying ballot initiatives by using paid petition circulators, critics say the abortion provider has an ulterior motive: saving itself millions to fight initiatives it opposes. Since 2005, Planned Parenthood has spent more than $20 million to defeat three propositions that would have required parental notification before a minor undergoes an abortion. Planned Parenthood spent about $5.5 million to defeat Proposition 73 in 2005, $6.5 million to defeat Proposition 85 in 2006, and about $10 million to defeat Proposition 4 last year. Each measure failed by a narrow margin following massive television ad campaigns by Planned Parenthood. read moreCalCatholic
Arizona Gov Jan Brewer Drops Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz From Health Fair
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has officially dropped Planned Parenthood from a health fair that her administration is sponsoring. The move has upset officials with the abortion business, but won her praise from pro-life advocates who say Brewer is quickly becoming a better governor than pro-abortion Janet Napolitano.
Planned Parenthood Arizona had requested to be a participant in this year's Women’s Health Expo, a one-day event at two locations in Maricopa County that featured community groups with booths and information.
The governor's of Children, Youth and Families coordinated the event, which saw the participation of more than 60 organizations, except Planned Parenthood. Brewer's office reportedly rejected its request to be involved. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Attempts to Carve Out Special Privileges for Abortion Cases
Oral arguments were made this morning before the Kansas Supreme Court concerning whether or not subpoenas for testimony in the criminal case involving 107 charges against Planned Parenthood should be allowed to go forward.
Steven J. Obermeier made arguments for the District Attorney's office. He indicated that Judge Richard Anderson, custodian of evidence in this case, is currently under a gag order issued by the Kansas Supreme Court preventing him from testifying or releasing any of the evidence. That gag order sprung from a separate case that has since been dismissed. Because the original case no longer exists, he asked that Anderson be allowed to testify.
Obermeier was questioned about why he believed he could use information from the KDHE forms that statute labeled as "confidential." Obermeier explained that the District Attorney's office handles confidential documents all the time. "Confidential" does not mean that they are beyond subpoena. If that was the legislative intent, then it would have been stated in the statute, as it is in other statutes. Post-Abortive Women to Planned Parenthood: Hands off Mother's Day
Leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (SNMAC), the world's largest network of individuals harmed by abortion, responded today to Planned Parenthood's new Mother's Day appeal and urged post-abortive women to seek healing.
"Just when it seemed Planned Parenthood's Mother's Day fundraising letters couldn't get more hypocritical, this year they've brought in a children's author to say we should honor mothers by donating to the nation's largest abortion business," said Janet Morana, co-founder of SNMAC. "Honoring mothers by giving money to Planned Parenthood, though, is like honoring our troops by sending care packages to al-Qaeda. It makes no sense and it's highly offensive."
"Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby told us that terminating our children's lives would solve our problems, but that lie has turned Mother's Day into a time of anguish and regret for far too many," said Georgette Forney, another co-founder of SNMAC. "This Mother's Day, the voices of Silent No More want women to find healing and healing begins with the truth."
"Acknowledging a mother's pain and regret is a critical step in her restoration from abortion," said Fr. Frank Pavone, Pastoral Director of SNMAC. "The Silent No More campaign understands this and connects post-abortive women with resources that not only help them cope with their feelings of loss, but also to become emotionally and spiritually whole again. I urge everyone who has been impacted by abortion to visit Iregretmyabortion.org to share their regret and begin the healing process. read more ChristianNewswire
Planned Parenthood Begs for Response to Criticism of Judy Blume Abortion Plug
The criticism of children's author Judy Blume has reached such a fever pitch so quickly after an expose' article from Lifenews.com that Planned Parenthood is begging for help. Blume wrote a mother's day fundraising letter for the abortion business that has pro-life advocates aghast.
Blume plugged the pro-abortion group in an attempt to raise money near Mother's Day and her missive ironically suggested that abortion advocates celebrate mothers by donating to Planned Parenthood.
LifeNews.com received an email blast this afternoon from Planned Parenthood to its supporters titled "Please help" and begging for assistance in responding to the deluge of criticism.
"Yesterday, Judy Blume — a beloved writer and icon to generations of women — graciously wrote a letter about Mother's Day for Planned Parenthood," Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards writes. "Now, anti-choice extremists are inundating her with hate mail and phone calls."
"We rarely respond to these outrageous attacks, but when it comes to Judy Blume ... well, I can't stand by and do nothing. I just can't," Richards added. "Please, let her know how much we appreciate her courage."

Judy Blume - Honor Mom by Supporting Abortion
posted at the Catholic Key Blog:
My "Friend", Cecile Richards at Planned Parenthood Action Fund writes to me today (she writes several times a week) -
Friend — There are very few writers who have helped more young people grow up and grapple with their changing bodies and emotions than Judy Blume, the amazing author of Blubber, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, and Forever. I count myself among her biggest and most grateful fans — and am so lucky to call her my friend. I'm honored to relay her message about motherhood to you today. — Cecile
And here's Judy's message for Mother's Day:
Dear Friend,
If you are the daughter whose mom had the guts to give you the answers to questions you couldn't quite figure out how to ask...
If you are the son whose mother raised you to love and respect your sisters and wives and daughters...
If you know a mother who is struggling to raise strong, independent, and confident children in the face of unbelievable odds...
...Say thanks. Say thanks this Mother's Day with a gift that honors her courage by making a donation to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in her name. I guarantee you that she'll be pleased. I know I would be.
I'm a mom, and I'm also a writer and an activist. Nothing has made me prouder than seeing my own children — and really, all young people — grow up to be healthy, educated, and in charge of their bodies and their lives. That's where Planned Parenthood comes in. There is no organization that I know of that supports motherhood and all that it means more than Planned Parenthood. That's why I'm honoring moms everywhere with my gift to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund today.
It's not easy to be a mother these days. And right now — with more and more women seeking care from Planned Parenthood health centers — we need to do all we can to support them. By honoring a mother in your life with a gift to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, you'll be making a gift that protects and advocates for the health of millions of mothers and families. That's a gift any mother will appreciate.
Sincerely,

Judy Blume
on behalf of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund
Me, I'm more thankful that my mother's "courage" got me born in one piece.
Planned Parenthood, Pro-Life Advocates Lobby Senate on Pro-Abortion Kathleen Sebelius
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America on Wednesday sent out an email to its membership making a last-minute plea for members of the Senate to support Kathleen Sebelius, the pro-abortion Kansas governor whom President Barack Obama appointed to become Health Secretary.
“Your senators need to hear from you right now. President Obama's nominee for secretary of health and human services, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, is under attack from anti-choice extremists. They want to block her confirmation, and they're doing everything they can to convince their allies in the Senate to play along,” PPFA president Cecile Richards said.
Richards calls Sibelius “a leading health policy expert, a popular governor, and a strong advocate for increased health care access” but makes no mention of her long pro-abortion record vetoing pro-life legislation. She also does not explain the close relationship Sebelius has with late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller.
Meanwhile, ten prominent pro-life advocates called on senators to oppose her nomination. The group sent a scathing letter to senators arguing Sebelius, the governor of Kansas, was unfit to serve as secretary.
“Americans want and deserve better than a health care system run by a politician with serious lapses of conscience and integrity,” the letter stated. “We call on all senators who claim to uphold the sanctity of life and the responsibility of the office of HHS to oppose her confirmation.” LifeNews
Student Undercover Video Shows Tennessee Planned Parenthood Coaching 14-year-old to Lie About Age of 'Boyfriend'
A counselor at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Memphis, TN was caught on hidden camera coaching a 14-year-old girl to lie to a judge so he would not find out about her 31-year-old boyfriend and the girl could obtain a waiver for an abortion without her parents' knowledge. This is the sixth Planned Parenthood clinic implicated in a developing multi-state child abuse scandal involving the deliberate suppression of evidence of statutory rape.
Lila Rose, 20-year-old UCLA student and president of the nonprofit Live Action, entered Planned Parenthood's Memphis Health Center undercover and told a counselor that she was 14 years old, pregnant by her 31-year-old "boyfriend", and needed a secret abortion so her parents would not find out about her sexual relationship with the older man. Tennessee Code 37-1-605 requires health professionals to report suspected cases of sexual abuse of minors to law enforcement immediately. read more ChristianNewsWire
Planned Parenthood claims to play a ‘unique role’ in Obama administration
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) has over $1 billion in assets and claims an increase of 15,560 abortions in 2007, its annual report for 2007-2008 reveals. Praising the “new direction” of the United States, the largest abortion provider in the U.S. says it will play a “unique role” in shaping the Obama administration’s health agenda.
The letter introducing the report, signed by Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and Elena Marks, PPFA chairwoman, professes “enormous optimism” about “the new direction of our country and new opportunities to make lasting change in the lives of women and families, here and around the globe.” “Planned Parenthood is the leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider, with 93 years under our belt,” the letter continues, adding “And in the near future, we will play a unique role in helping to shape the health agenda for the new administration.” read more CNA
Planned Parenthood Annual Report: Abortion Totals, Government Funding Increase
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America has released its annual report for fiscal year 2007-2008. The document shows the nation's largest abortion business is getting bigger as it showed an increase of five percent more abortions and increased taxpayer funding.
According to Planned Parenthood's latest report, abortions increased to 305,310 abortions up from 289,750 in 2006.
That 5.3 percent increase came at a time when the Alan Guttmacher Institute, it's former research arm, showed abortions were at near-historic lows.
Thus, while abortions were on the decline in the United States, and while Planned Parenthood sought to distance itself from its abortion business, Planned Parenthood did more abortions than it has done in years.
The annual report showed more government funding heading to the abortion business even if the taxpayer funds did not directly pay for abortions.
The total government grants and contracts received by PPFA affiliates from government sources including state, local and federal governments, increased from $337 million to $350 million. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood's Porn Promo
Charming folks, those Planned Parenthood people.
Hot on the heels of the latest exposé of Planned Parenthood personnel counseling about how minor girls can obtain abortions without revealing they have been victims of statutory rape comes this news: Planned Parenthood staff intended to give a presentation prior to the airing of an XXX-rated film on the campus of the University of Maryland.
Thankfully, the student union-approved plan to air the porn movie was canceled today by university officials after state legislators threatened to cut off millions of dollars of taxpayer funding if the university didn’t take action.
But that doesn’t diminish Planned Parenthood’s culpability in agreeing to appear before the film was aired. The organization intended to offer students information “on abstinence, sexually transmitted infections, condom use and emergency contraception,” according to this Baltimore Sun article. read more NCReg
Hillary Clinton received Planned Parenthood's highest honor
When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received Planned Parenthood's highest honor, it came in the name of a woman who promoted eliminating "the unfit" from the human race.
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) presented Clinton with the Margaret Sanger Award at its annual awards dinner March 27 in Houston, Texas. Sanger founded an organization in 1916 that became Planned Parenthood.
Receiving the award is a "great privilege," Clinton said after the presentation. "I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision.... I am really in awe of her," Clinton said.
Sanger, however, was a eugenicist, a fact that goes unacknowledged by Planned Parenthood and certainly was not mentioned by Clinton in her speech at the awards ceremony.
"Planned Parenthood will try to say that she wasn't [a eugenicist], but they pull her quotes out of context," said Angela Franks, author of "Margaret Sanger's Eugenic Legacy: The Control of Female Fertility. Sanger "completely embraced eugenic ideas," Franks told Baptist Press.
Franks cited a quote from Sanger's writings as evidence. Birth control "is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defectives," Sanger wrote.
Eugenics is the belief the human race can be improved by discouraging or coercively preventing the reproduction of those people regarded as "unfit," -- normally the disabled and poor -- or promoting the reproduction of the "fit," those with genetic characteristics considered desirable.
"No doubt Hillary wasn't consciously thinking of Sanger's eugenics attitudes [when she praised Sanger]," Franks said. "However, the left has totally embraced population control ... and has been able to look the other way. read more Bpress
Reported fom ALL's Stop PP:
Planned Parenthood sponsors condom fashion competition
Seriously folks, when fighting Planned Parenthood you will run into some things that really have you wondering, how stupid can PP get? With a desperate cry to get more people into its clinics, PP of South Texas is sponsoring a competition of who can make the most creative outfit…out of condoms. Can you say stupid? I’m sure plenty of other things come to mind, but with $336.7 million of your tax dollars, this ridiculous business must be shut down.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, PP is trying to make condoms into some kind of fashion. With its most recent attempts of selling “Proper Attire” condoms with a new “collection” of condoms, PP is once again trying to desensitize the young people of our generation and lure them into its clinics.
The event in South Texas is titled Project Slicker 2009 and the condoms to create these costumes “will be provided free of charge to registered artists.”
This condom on the brain, baby-killing organization must be defeated. With all of its nonsense and medically inaccurate information, PP still claims to know it all. PP supposedly has “leaders” that offer a “robust vision and commonsense solutions designed to protect women’s health and safety and the basic human rights of us all.”
Give me a break.

Planned Parenthood 'changing focus' to medical abortions
American Life League has released a report on Planned Parenthood abortion facilities.
The report shows that while the number of Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities has dropped, the taxpayer-funded abortion provider is simply "changing focus," says Marie Hahnenberg, a researcher for American Life League.
"[We've] discovered that Planned Parenthood is increasing its number of facilities that perform medical abortions," she notes, adding that they are performed through medication such as the dangerous abortion drug RU-486.
"There's a first drug that the mother takes that would kill the preborn baby, and then Planned Parenthood gives the mother a second drug that the mother would take home," Hahnenberg explains. "And that second drug causes contractions, and she gives birth to her dead baby at home." read more OneNewsNow
Arizona Attorney General to investigate Planned Parenthood for statuatory rape cover-up
Following the release of undercover videos showing Arizona Planned Parenthood clinics disregarding laws that mandate the reporting of sexual abuse, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has reportedly opened an investigation into local branches of the nation’s largest abortion provider.
The videos, taken by the student non-profit group Live Action, showed clinic staffers talking to a student investigator they believed to be a pregnant 15-year-old girl. The student claimed to have become pregnant by her much older boyfriend. Sexual relations between a 15-year-old and an older adult is a felony under Arizona law, while state law also mandates reporting of sexual abuse.
Live Action films conducted investigations at two Phoenix clinics and a clinic in Tucson. Its footage was sent to County Attorneys in Pima and Maricopa counties and to the Arizona Attorney General.
The office of the Pima County Attorney in a letter to Live Action said that the footage from the Tucson clinic is “under review and consideration by the Attorney General.” read more CNA
Sex Education Planned Parenthood Style
Sadly, there are too many people who buy into the false notion that Planned Parenthood wants to help you. Nothing could be further from the truth. What is even worse is that they receive taxpayer money and sometimes on the basis that they claim to teach chastity. They often insinuate themselves into schools by offering “educational materials” to unwitting teachers.
Do not be deceived. Sex education Planned Parenthood-style is all about desensitizing your child to sexual language in order to destroy the beauty of sex. The last thing they want is to see your child in a committed relationship of lifelong love in marriage. By trivializing sex and marketing this view to children of younger and younger ages, who do not have properly formed consciences and no concept of the meaning and purpose of marriage, they are undermining the future of this country. read more catholicexchange
Two More Undercover Videos of Planned Parenthood Rape Cover-Ups Set for Release
Two more videos exposing illegal cover-ups of sexual abuse by Planned Parenthood employees are due for release tomorrow by Live Action Media, a pro-life student group that has received national attention by exposing the illegal practices of the abortion giant. Earlier Live Action videos were the inspiration behind a California county board of supervisors' recent decision to de-fund Planned Parenthood.
The videos will be the fourth and fifth installments of the Mona Lisa Project, a series of undercover video exposés revealing Planned Parenthood staff covering up statutory rape and circumventing state abortion laws in an effort to end Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding. The new footage takes place in Arizona abortion facilities.
The previous Live Action videos sparked a recent move by Orange County, CA board members to de-fund Planned Parenthood when local resident and Family Action PAC board member Marc Bucher saw the footage (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/mar/09031111.html) He says the videos prompted him to investigate whether Planned Parenthood received local taxpayer dollars. read more LifeSite
College Buckles Under Public Pressure, Lifts Campus Ban On Pro-Life Students Who Videotaped Planned Parenthood Event
Pomona College banned two pro-life students from campus last week after they videotaped the question-and-answer session during a Planned Parenthood representative's talk and asked the representative tough questions about recent Planned Parenthood scandals.
However, Pomona rescinded its ban this week after facing strong opposition from students, faculty, and alumni. The pro-life students, David Daleiden, 20, and Kyle Kinneberg, 21, are members of the youth-led right-to-life advocacy group Live Action.
Daleiden and Kinneberg both attend Claremont McKenna College, part of the Claremont College Consortium together with Pomona and three other undergraduate institutions. A hand-delivered letter from Pomona's Dean of Women Marcelle Holmes notified the students of the ban, claiming their videotaping had been "against college policy." But Daleiden, President of Live Action's Claremont chapter and Director of Research for the national organization, said Pomona never produced the specific policy they said his group had violated, and that he and Kinneberg were denied their due process rights under the Claremont Colleges' Policy on Demonstrations. read more LifeSite
Orange County California Cuts $300,000 Grant to Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz
Planned Parenthood has lost another local grant and this time its because the Orange County Board of Supervisors in California decided not to fund the nation's largest abortion business. The board voted to suspend a contract with Planned Parenthood to do outreach to teenagers because it does abortions.
The board took a unanimous vote at a meeting on Tuesday night after receiving calls and emails from pro-life advocates opposed to the $292,000 contract.
"I personally have a problem with government funding of an organization that provides abortion services," supervisor John Moorlach said during the board meeting. read more LifeNews
Planned Parenthood Targets Poland for Abortion with US Funds, Courtesy of Obama
The International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF) has wasted little time in putting to use the millions of taxpayer dollars that have been made available to it by President Obama's decision to rescind the Mexico City Policy, which forbade U.S. funds from going to organizations that promote or perform abortions overseas.
In a letter advocating a series of Women's Day marches in Poland which took place yesterday and which were advertised with the words "Come and Join Us Because ... Poland is Ill," the IPPF urged support for the pro-contraception, pro-abortion and pro-homosexual agenda of the marchers.
The Women's Day event "has become a grassroots democratic movement," the "biggest demonstration of women's rights supporters," says the IPPF. According to the organization, last year Women's Day marches in cities around the country attracted some 4,000 participants.
"Among the demands, they make are: easy access to contraception; abolishing the gender role stereotypes that people are socialized into; right to decide about oneself and one's body; no more treating women as sexual objects; proper sex education in schools; and treating equally women who are elderly, poor, homosexual, of different ethnicity, of low social standing or handicapped." read more LifeSite
Planned Parenthood Promotes Abortion at White House Health Care Summit
With no pro-life groups invited to respond, the president of Planned Parenthood promoted abortion at a White House-sponsored health care summit on Thursday. Cecile Richards called for including access to abortion in any health care reform package President Barack Obama may put forward.
As LifeNews.com reported, the Obama administration's health care summit included the nation's largest abortion business and several other groups that take a pro-abortion position.
But no leading pro-life medical groups or top pro-life organizations were allowed to attend the health care event.
Instead, Planned Parenthood's president pushed for universal health care coverage and better access to health care. However, she wants abortion included and that would likely come at a public cost to taxpayers.
Richards wants abortion included as part of the mandatory coverage package that could also force health insurance companies to include abortion in their plans. That would pass on abortion costs to all people who are insured under their health care plans. read more LifeNews
PLANNED PARENTHOOD APPLAUDS RESCINDING OF BUSH HHS MIDNIGHT RULE
The New York Times reports:
The Obama administration moved on Friday to undo a last-minute Bush administration rule granting broad protections to health workers who refuse to take part in abortions or provide other health care that goes against their consciences.
Planned Parenthood's responds:
Obama Administration Takes First Step to Repeal Rule that Limits the Rights of Patients To Receive Complete and Accurate Health Information and Services
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) applauds the Obama administration for taking the first step in rescinding a midnight regulation that undermines the country’s fragile health care system as well as patients’ access to health care information and services.
“Today’s action by the Obama administration demonstrates that this president is not going to stand by and let women’s health be placed in jeopardy. By taking the first step in rescinding the harmful midnight regulation, the Obama administration is standing up for patients having the right to receive complete and accurate health information and services,” said PPFA President Cecile Richards.
According to the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) website, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has sent a proposed rule titled “Rescission of the Regulation Issued by the Department of Health and Human Services on December 19, 2008, Implementing the Church Amendments (42 U.S.C. 300a-7), Section 245 of the Public Health Service” to OMB for review. Planned Parenthood Attacks Math Teacher Over His Opposition To New Clinic
An Oregon high school math teacher will face an attack Friday from an affiliate of the nation’s largest abortion business.
Planned Parenthood of Columbia/Willamette wants Bill Diss’ teaching license revoked. Diss heads Precious Children of Portland – a pro-life organization working to halt construction of Planned Parenthood’s new mega-abortion facility in Portland’s poorest neighborhood.
"Bill has organized one of the most effective efforts against Planned Parenthood in the country," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "It’s no surprise Planned Parenthood will resort to anything – even going after his teaching license – in order to silence him."
Diss opposes, on his own time, outside of any school activities, the construction of a Planned Parenthood killing center in an African American neighborhood in Portland. The new Planned Parenthood business will target minority women for abortions.
According to Sedlak, Planned Parenthood has a history of using such strong-arm tactics against its opponents. read more Pewsitter
Planned Parenthood Sued For Covering Up Rape Of A Minor

A Warren County woman sued Planned Parenthood Friday, accusing its staff of ignoring training and procedures by not reporting her suspected sex abuse when she was a minor, resulting in her being sexually abused for an additional 1 years.
The suit accused Planned Parenthood and five of its employees of ignoring obvious signs of suspected sexual abuse instead of reporting them as Ohio law requires. read more kxmb
Planned Parenthood Is The New Target When It Comes To Designer Collaborations

AP/ProperAttireCondoms.com
Up-and-coming designers doing collaborations with Target is becoming too predictable a path to success. Instead, an alternate way to gain name recognition and visibility is to design a line of condoms. Yes, that’s right, designer condoms. Marc Jacobs designed a rubber wrapper on his own, and then last September, Planned Parenthood released a Yigal Azrouël-designed condom wrapper for its Proper Attire line. The Planned Parenthood/designer collaboration is continuing this season with Alexander Wang‘s simple black and white package ($5.99 for 3), which just happen to match his Fall 2009 collection that came down the runway on Feb. 14. Come September, what hot designer will Planned Parenthood get to do a Proper Attire condom wrapper? We’re betting on Phillip Lim. [via Refinery29] (thefrisky)
Planned Parenthood's perverse marketing tactics with your tax dollars
While a lot of us are enjoying Valentine's Day with loved ones this weekend, there's another annual event taking place that you might have missed: this week is National Condom Week!
Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest provider of contraceptive services, so we're pretty big fans of National Condom Week. It's a time to talk about important issues like contraceptive access and education, not to mention prevention of sexually transmitted infections. But mostly, it's a time to celebrate that simple, effective, wonderful invention known as the latex condom.
So we've pulled together a few of our favorite condom-related videos and put them all in one playlist. Want to see condoms used in high fashion? Or maybe it's time for a brief refresher on properly using a condom? And then there's my favorite, the Golden Girls shopping at the pharmacy, with Bea Arthur yelling, "Condoms, Rose! Condoms!"
Click here to watch our playlist. While you're there, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel — it's the best way to stay up-to-date on the sometimes fun, sometimes serious, but always engaging videos from Planned Parenthood.
From all of us at Planned Parenthood, Happy National Condom Week!
On January 22, Representative Mike Pence (R-Indiana) introduced H.R.614, an amendment to Title X of the Public Health Service Act that would eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the controversial organization that operates abortion mills across the country. (AmerConservDaily)
For his part, Pence hopes to get ahead of the Obama administration’s advocacy and aims to eliminate any federal funding that is or could go to Planned Parenthood. On his House website, Pence posted the following:
As most Americans know, it is simply morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. But it is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad.
Many Americans fail to recognize the largest abortion provider in America is also the largest recipient of federal taxpayer dollars through Title X–this should not be.
Yesterday, with more than 60 cosponsors, I re-introduced the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act,” a bill that would deny any federal funding to Planned Parenthood of America.
Ask your member of Congress to support H.R.614.
Planned Parenthood says donations are up thanks to Palin
The group says donations made in protest of Palin's anti-abortion position brought in more than $1 million.
An e-mail unaffiliated with Planned Parenthood went worldwide on the Web last fall that encouraged donors to send money in on behalf of Palin.
In a new interview, she called the political stunt great theater but said it wouldn't change her heartfelt views on supporting pregnant women and their unborn children. "I have boxes of thank-you notes from people associated with Planned Parenthood thanking me for the donations," she said during a press conference. "It's political theater -- it's great theater, I guess, for some." Palin said that she and Planned Parenthood may "agree on a mission here that we'd like to see fewer and fewer abortions, I, embracing the culture of life, have perhaps a different approach in how I would like to see that goal reached."
Planned Parenthood says they are always grateful for any donations that come in, and hopes to continue to work with Palin on ways to reduce the number of abortions women receive. KTUU
Planned Parenthood will use St. Valentine’s Day to push contraceptive and abortion sales with its National Condom Week
Planned Parenthood will use St. Valentine’s Day to push contraceptive and abortion sales with its National Condom Week.
“Half of all pregnancies in the U.S. are unintended and half of those happen because of failed contraception,” said Marie Hahnenberg, a researcher for American Life League. “Planned Parenthood is once again pushing sex on our kids with this condom promotion.”
Beginning Feb. 14, Planned Parenthoods across the country are offering condom e-cards, condom coasters, and condom-inspired drag shows among other ways to promote sale of its products.
“Valentine's Day is supposed to be a celebration of life and love – not a marketing scheme to sell more condoms to kids,” said Hahnenberg. “Valentine’s Day 2009 is being used by Planned Parenthood to profit off the sex culture it has created at colleges, high schools and even middle schools around the country.”
While abortion makes up a third of Planned Parenthood’s clinic income, 55 percent comes from the sales of birth control.
“Valentine’s Day is about love. True love has no room for contraception – which turns a beautiful act of marital love between a husband and wife into an objectification of one another for pleasure. Even worse, Planned Parenthood is trying to ingrain this culture and mentality into our children,” Hahnenberg said.
American Life League was co-founded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. TV Program Exposes Komen for the Cure and Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Link
A new video released by a group that serves as a watchdog for information on the link between abortion and breast cancer exposes the relationship between Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.
Karen Malec, the head of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer tells LifeNews.com that the video, "Komen's Dark Side," exposes the irregular relationship between the breast cancer organization and Planned Parenthood.
in 2007 alone, Komen chapters gave $711,485 from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006 to Planned Parenthood affiliates.
The amount of the grants from Komen affiliates to Planned Parenthood appears to be on the rise and 25 Komen affiliates now have a partnership with the abortion business.
The video reports on the cover-up of the abortion-breast cancer link and, with an airing soon on EWTN, could explain the link and the relationship to millions of households.
"Komen's officials have no right to keep women in the dark about a breast cancer risk, while at the same time giving funds to Planned Parenthood, a primary cause of the breast cancer epidemic," Malec says.
The video explains the biological explanation behind the abortion-breast cancer link and how abortion advocates and cancer groups are preventing women from getting the information. read more LifeNews
Infant Survives Late Term Abortion--Killed by Staff
Note: Abortion clinic was not a Planned Parenthood Clinic
This is an awful, awful story: The photo at left is of a 22-week prematurely born infant. According to the AP--no pro life outlet--a more developed infant survived a late term abortion in Florida only to be put in a plastic bag and thrown out by a staffer at the abortion clinic. From the story:
Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure. Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out. Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.
While in the Illinois Legislature, our president said that a proposed state law to protect the lives of such babies was unconstitutional and unnecessary, even referring to babies that survive abortions as "a previable child or fetus, however you want to describe it."If this story is true, she was a born infant--and she was murdered. President Obama should be asked for a comment. Moreover, he should be asked about the Freedom of Choice Act, that would eliminate the Federal Infant Born Alive Protection Act and similar state laws--like the one in Illinois that passed despite his "present" vote--designed to protect babies such as this.
This matter should be investigated thoroughly. If the coroner finds that the baby was indeed alive when she was born, the abortion clinic owner should be prosecuted for murder. If Florida won't act, the Feds should enforce the still-in-effect Infant Born Alive Protection Act. SecondhandSmoke
Hiding teen 'rapes' continues at Planned Parenthood
A new video released by the same people who caught Planned Parenthood businesses in Indiana ignoring an apparent case of statutory rape in their rush to offer a juvenile an abortion now have released a video about the Margaret Sanger Center in Tucson, Ariz., where a nurse apparently has done the same thing.
An undercover pro-life activist who visited the Tucson Planned Parenthood business, explaining she was 15 and her boyfriend was 27, was told how to go to court to obtain an abortion without having her parents notified, and was encouraged not to have her 27-year-old "boyfriend" along when she appeared in court.
The video was posted on YouTube by Live Action Films, which had posted videos earlier revealing the results of its undercover investigations in Indiana. read more WND
Abortion Lobby Urging Calls to White House to Reinstate Stimulus Funding for “Family Planning”
The National Abortion Federation has launched an appeal to its supporters to take action and call the White House to demand that President Barack Obama restore hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for contraception and abortion. The funding was cut when Obama responded to severe criticism over the discovery of the handouts to support the abortion industry within the $850 billion economy stimulus package.
“We urge you to take action now by calling the White House at 202-456-1111 to express your support for the Medicaid Family Planning State Option,” said the NAF email to supporters.
“Just tell the White House switchboard operator that you have a comment about the economic stimulus plan, and you'll be transferred to a White House staff member. Then give your name and express your disappointment that affordable family planning has been removed from the latest stimulus package, and your support for the Medicaid Family Planning State Option. The stimulus plan now includes a measure to send more public funds to the Planned Parenthood abortion business to fund contraception and birth control.
Specifically, a provision in the legislation clears the way for expanded federal funding of contraceptives through Medicaid for those who aren't even poor.
As a result, all 50 states will now offer Medicaid “family planning” services (including contraception) with the federal government offering the same $9 to $1 match. Although the money doesn't fund abortions directly, it goes to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business, which would otherwise have to spend its own money on contraception.
Pro-life advocates say the governmental funds free up Planned Parenthood dollars to promote and perform abortions that it would otherwise have to spend on family planning. read more LifeNews
Abortion advocates were able to check off one of the items on the 55-page memo they gave to President Barack Obama as marching orders for his administration. In comments after Obama ditched the Mexico City Policy, key pro-abortion groups were giddy with excitement.
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, whose abortion business stood to make millions from the decision, could hardly contain herself in an email to her supporters.
"I had no doubt it was going to happen, but I'm going to celebrate anyway. As one of his first official acts in office, President Obama has overturned the global gag rule," she said, referring to the derogative term for the policy and its limits on funding groups like hers that promotes and performs abortions.
"I'm sending our new president a message of thanks on behalf of ... those of us here in the U.S. who have been protesting the global gag rule since the day President Ronald Reagan first implemented it," Richards added.
Richards promised the abortion advocates that support her group that Obama is ready and willing to more to promote abortions. read more LifeNews
The "Provider Conscience Rule" provides more enforcement for laws protecting medical centers and professionals who don't want to do abortions.
The new rule, which requires medical facilities to affirm in writing that they won't force staff to participate in abortions and potentially denies federal funding for centers or governments that do, is slated to take effect January 20.
The protections merely provide additional enforcement for existing laws, some of which have been on the books for decades, that allow medical professionals to avoid involvement in abortions.
The suit is the second to target the new conscience protections as a collection of pro-abortion groups, including the ACLU, the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America have also sued. read more LifeNews
A Planned Parenthood abortion business in Oregon recently received a grant from the federal Housing and Urban Development department that will allow it to target Indian Americans. HUD's Indian Community Block Grant program gave $50,000 to Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette's regional service center.
While the money likely can't be used to do abortions, the Planned Parenthood affiliate may use it to target native Americans with family planning programs and provide them with abortions when they become pregnant.
The money may also be used to help the abortion business build its new regional service center -- a new building in a historically black neighborhood in Portland that will house an abortion facility and its political headquarters. read more LifeNews
Roughly 30 people were let go earlier this week, according to a source who works for the nonprofit. Executives at Planned Parenthood confirmed the layoffs, but declined to give more details.
“As with many other nonprofit organizations, Planned Parenthood has had to make staff reductions at our headquarters due to the challenging economic times facing our country,” said Maryana Iskander, chief operating officer at the agency. “While taking this action is never easy, we want to ensure the millions of women and men who rely on Planned Parenthood as a health care provider that the reductions will not impact our ability to deliver care to those in need.”
Part of Planned Parenthood’s funding declines stem from the closing of the Florida-based Picower Foundation, which shut down in December because its assets were managed by Bernard Madoff. The $1 billion foundation was one of the few major funders of reproductive rights issues. crainsnewyork
Planned Parenthood applauds Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for supporting commonsense legislation that will improve women’s health and introducing the bill in the U.S. Senate. Planned Parenthood also applauds Representatives Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY) and Diana DeGette (D-CO) who will introduce the bill in the U.S. House later this week.
On the first day of the 111th Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sent a very clear message about what pro-lifers can expect from the next two years by introducing S. 21, "The Prevention First Act" that would direct hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to the abortion industry, a business that already receives over $286 million each year from federal taxpayers.
It should come as no surprise that Planned Parenthood, the largest supporter of unrestricted abortion, praised the bill. And why not? The abortion merchant will likely be the largest beneficiary of Reid's abortion bailout. Among other things, the legislation would use taxpayer funds to mislead people about the potential of the "morning after pill" (known as Plan B) to act as an abortifacient. It also encourages the use of Plan B for victims of sexual assault yet has no reporting requirement in place for young girls who may have been victims of abuse and/or rape.
When you get right down to it, the bill does nothing to support parental involvement--let alone consent--for dispensing the morning after pill and other "contraception" to minors. In addition to funding Plan B, the measure would also: subsidize birth control for college and low-income women; expand Title X, the main federal family planning program that requires abortion referrals; expand Planned Parenthood targeting of low-income women through Medicaid; target teens' with "comprehensive" sex education; and spread emergency contraception. lanned Parenthood inquiry requested
A team of volunteers at Live Action Films who earlier released videos of two Planned Parenthood offices advising how to conceal a reported sexual assault on a child now wants the abortion company to answer a few questions, such as how many abortions does it perform and how many reports does it submit to Child Protective Services.
In an open letter and a video released today, the pro-life organization said the public should know what is going on at the company that gets millions of federal taxpayer dollars annually.
"This is an organization that consistently engages in deceptive practices and lawbreaking," said Lila Rose, the 20-year-old president of the group. "And these practices have very real consequences on real people." read more WND
After two undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood of Indiana workers refusing to report statutory rape of young girls, Planned Parenthood of Indiana president Betty Cockrum released a statement defending her organization, though offering no public apology. Lila Rose, the 20-year-old UCLA undergraduate who is president of Live Action, is calling for Planned Parenthood of Indiana to publicly release the number of reports they have made to Child Protective Services in conjunction with the number of minors to whom they have provided STD testing, abortion counseling, pregnancy testing, and birth control.
Rose adds, "Planned Parenthood has been lobbying politically against parental involvement laws for years, both statewide and federally -- it is no surprise that our investigations have found their staffers circumventing these laws in Indiana by sending a purported 13-year-old girl, with a 31-year-old sex partner, out of state for secret abortions." read more CalCatholic
The president of Planned Parenthood is upset that the Bush administration has given final approval to regulations that help doctors and medical centers pressured to do abortions or refer for them. Cecile Richards appears to admit in an email to financial backers that she wouldn’t hire pro-life staff at her centers.
Richards claimed stopping forced abortions is “limiting the rights of patients to receive complete and accurate reproductive health information when they visit a federally funded health care provider.”
“The rule is clearly a parting gift from Bush to the anti-choice fringe that supported him all these years,” she added.
Richards claims the rule makes it so “anti-choice medical staff can withhold information about abortion, birth control, and sex education from their patients” even though the rule has nothing to do with birth control and despite the fact that birth control portions of the proposal were removed in August. read more LifeNews
A member of the Indiana General Assembly on Tuesday asked the state attorney general and Marion County prosecutor to investigate video-taped advice given at two Planned Parenthood clinics to a woman who said she was underage and wanted an abortion.
In one video, taken at a Bloomington clinic and released earlier this month, a woman who said she was a minor who was pregnant by a 31-year-old man was told by a Planned Parenthood representative to seek an abortion in Illinois. The woman who made the pregnancy claim was an adult, according to the organization that secretly made the recording. read more INDYSTAR
Hewlett Foundation Giving Millions to Planned Parenthood - Don't buy Their Ink Cartridges Says Pro-life Leader
The Hewlett Foundation has announced $125.1 million in new grants to 214 organizations. First and foremost among the beneficiaries is International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF), for whom Hewlett cut the largest check by far, granting $8.3 million to support worldwide abortion.
Of the Menlo Park-based foundation's six program areas, the most money went toward “population” issues, specifically supporting family planning and AIDS prevention worldwide. In all, the foundation's "Population Program" gave $31.8 million to 38 organizations dealing with global population issues. The International Planned Parenthood Federation, based in London, claimed over a quarter of the sum to support its radical agenda. read more LifeSiteNews
The Indiana Department of Child Services is joining local prosecutors in Bloomington by ignoring the expose' last week that showed a staff member at Planned Parenthood of Indiana covering up an alleged case of statutory rape. The agency says it won't take any action against the abortion business.
As LifeNews.com originally reported, a UCLA college student engaged in an undercover video expose' that had her posing as an underage teen.
Student Lila Rose says she told a Planned Parenthood official, who has since been placed on unpaid leave by the abortion business, that she had sex with a man nearly twice her age.
Despite the consent, the sexual encounter clearly violated the state's laws concerning statutory rape. The Planned Parenthood official told Rose she didn't want to know about the age discrepancy and apparently did not report the case to authorities as required by state law. read more LifeNews
The results of a new study from a Johns Hopkins University research team claiming that there is no link between abortions and mental health problems for women should come as no surprise. The authors of the study, which the mainstream media touted Thursday, are bankrolled by Planned Parenthood.
Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council, told LifeNews.com says the JHU department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health, where three of the four authors are employed, is funded by Planned Parenthood of Maryland, the state's largest abortion business.
Meanwhile, he indicates study co-author Robert Blum heads up one of the most heavily funded population control programs in the world, which is worth roughly $1 billion.
Blum has also been intimately involved in the abortion business and has been on the board of directors of the Alan Guttmacher Institute, which is formerly the research arm of Planned Parenthood. He was the chairman of the pro-abortion group from 1999-2002. read more LifeNews
